House majority leader Eric Cantor is increasingly frustrated with a group of House Republicans who are working against the leadership, and hes not afraid of voicing his dismay.
In a closed-door conference meeting on Wednesday, Cantor told one GOP member that if they blocked the Senate-passed Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) from coming to the floor, theyd cause civil war in the ranks.
Cantors comment irked some Republican aides, who told National Review Online that such strong language is inappropriate. In recent days, some conservatives have been upset about the Senates version of VAWA, saying that parts of the bill are unconstitutional.
Nevertheless, Cantors warning may have had an effect. When the bill came to the floor on Wednesday, only nine Republicans voted against the rule to take up the bill.
Tensions between backbenchers and leadership, however, are evident, and the whip on the rule took over an hour. Eventually, the rule passed, 4149, and the House plans a final vote on the Senates version of VAWA on Thursday.
The nine who voted against the rule include Georgia Senate candidate Paul Broun and potential Iowa Senate candidate Steve King.
The VAWA was already passed and made law by Republicans and Democrats during the ‘90s. It violates Second Amendment rights—mandatory five years in federal prison for possessing a firearm while under a restraining order (only an accusation needed for one of those) or any time after having been convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence.
Take freedoms away from a few million here and a few more million there, and everyone will lose their freedoms. Payback from large numbers of other constituents whose rights were already violated by nearly all others in politics will be rough. That’s what we’ll be seeing and waking up to.
But go back to sleep, folks. Because of the paradigm of immorality and supporting problems from it with enormous extra government spending, families are history. The constitutional rights of all will be history before long. Enjoy the feminist/romanticism. Have fun. Enjoy the slide.
lol. Just say no and skip the charges.
....Does anybody remember what the Democrats did at their 2012 convention ??? First they eliminated any mention of the word GOD...and when they thought twice about doing that they reintroduced the resolution what happened ? They booed God..thrice..That resolution was rammed through just like the Affordable Health Care Act ...That’s a wedge issue within the democrat party which was not exploited by Roves RINOS and GOPES and the Republicans to this day. To properly describe that episode .Its the marriage of the radical and democrat into the hyphenated Demo-Com union.
Was that fact used in any of the material Roves RINOS spewed forth during the 2012 Romney or US senate races his group of GOPES (Government Ofthe People Elite Snobs) used on their hit list ? I like using that acronym because it rhymes with dopes.
Noooo ! They could have used that episode to point out how far to the left the democrat party has hyphenated into; Demo-Coms ...Instead well we dont like Aikin ...He said what ? OMG OMG hes unqualified ...If there was a chance he would have been burned at the stake by Roves RINOS and the so called conservative talkies spouting Roves tripe.
The Aikin or ODonnells response to a set up phoney issue had nothing to do with any thing that would ever occur in any legislation that would pass their respective desks had they been elected.
THE RESPONSE YOU DIDNT HEAR WAS THIS While at their convention the Democrats were busy denying God . Aikin believes in something like the ten commandments. Including Thou shalt not steal and doesnt believe that getting elected to office gives you a license to do steal ... Which his opponent seems to have done rather well since being in office. The same thing with Mourdock,ODonnnell, etc, etc, etc.
That presentation could have been expanded to Reid, Pelosi, and the slew of Demo-Com pigs at the trough. Expanding their personal wealth at the expense of the US taxpayers.
Now his bunch seems to be saying if you hold a religious view dont run for office... Were gonna save the Republican party ....to be finished off by Obama and the hypenated democrats..
Roves RINOS wrong for America and the GOPES wrong for the Republican party...
I always said Cantor is a lib who hides it with woof-woof.
And I’m looking for a litmus test in the next 24 hours. There is no reason whatsoever for the R’s to cave on the sequester and every reason for them to let it happen - unless they are really just a wing of the democrat party.
If they cave, everything becomes clear and we can all call them what they are. The veil will have been lifted.
We’re about to find out.
It doesnt look like its playing out that way so far, on FNC F+F they played a clip of O admitting yesterday that most Americans wont notice this, said ‘only the vulnerable few’ and listed some. He is seeing polls that show that few care about this. They like Obama better than GOP still, but few understand or care about this.
Then they played the back to back clips of O campaigning around the country ‘against’ end-of-world Sequester-geden.
My only take is that if the sequester happens, my perceptions of the two sides doesn’t really change much. But if the R’s cave, the mask is off. They really are just D-lite. In fact, it will be worse than that. It will re-enforce the theories that we are all just pawns in their game and the “trilateral commissionists” and other conspiracy people will be proven right. The parties will be exposed as a facade with little real influence. Pawns of those who really do hold the power. And I don’t mean in the “to some degree it has always been true” way. I mean in this way:

How do they cave? raise those taxes by cutting the loopholes/deductions? It doesnt seem likely at all. McCain and Grahamnesty dont even have the guts to suggest it anymore(they did at least once).
I am more concerned about them passing the Senate's VAWA in the near term and eventually amnesty if the Senate actually passes a bill. .
The 2011 debt limit fight and the tax fight were lost simply because the a large majority of voters were upset about it and blamed the GOP.
They lost the PR war that Obama waged. They have to get elected after all.
But in this case few are paying attention. Plus, how many times will O 'crying wolf' work?
It doesnt seem likely at all.
That is actually my point. There is no logical or political reason for them to cave. It has become highly unlikely. But if they do, the mask will be completely and utterly removed. If they don’t cave, there may still be a mask, but it will remain in place.
I’m just saying that if they cave, all doubt will be removed about who’s side the R’s are really on. They will be exposed as a “double agent” for all to see. It’s why I think it is unlikely.
1) It's unconstitutional
2) It imposes punishments without trial or conviction
3) It reverses the presumption of innocence
4) In fact, it eliminates most of the protections of the citizen (subject) which have been in place since Magna Carta
5) It creates a fiction by statute (that women never lie)
6) It federalizes state matters and thus requires a nonexistent Federal police power.
Other than that, it's a great law, one that all good Republicans will surely support.
I dont see the GOP as ‘the good guy’. I lost that many years ago.
I see them as the only ones who can (possibly) stop Dems, by killing bills short term, or by winning elections longer term by making Dems unpopular, much like Pelosi bidded her time as House Speaker in 2007 and 2008 until she had real power in 2009..
I dont especially like Republicans, but they are a necessary evil.

“...that such strong language is inappropriate. ...”
Gee...”strong language”... the country is burning down, and they’re worried about a RINO’s “strong language”.
Civil war in GOP ranks is the LEAST of their worries.
They may be getting the real effing deal before long.
Just sayin’...
I see them as the only ones who can (possibly) stop Dems...
Me too. Hence my tag line.
Seriously.
1) The GOP has to be elected. They lost seats in the Senate they should of easily won 2012 and even 2010 and so now they have trouble killing stuff in the Senate putting all the guns on the GOP house.
2) Handing out free stuff to key voters and claiming you cam pay for it just by making ‘the rich’ pay ‘fair taxes’ is way more popular then telling voters that we cannot afford their medicare and SS in 5 to 10 years but need to cut upper-income tax rates at the same time.
So Obama and Dems have a huge advantage there, and it has been much helped by legal and illegal immigration.
Most non-whites (that I have met) by far see O as caring for them and the GOP for the racists and rich. I know one that doesnt like him, out of 20.
this is the big picture
this is the big picture
Actually, for me, the big picture is the bible. Countries come and go. This one has clearly run its course.

The proof is that we have to depend on the current crop of R’s to “save” us. Ain’t gonna happen.
I dont know how you feel about immigration but if you truly think the Bible tells you what the GOP should pass law-wise (a bit of a stretch as Jesus never told Rome what laws to pass, Dems claim the voting rights act is Christian) then the massive importation of non=Christian foreigners starting under GWB should have rang your alarm bells.
Here in Maryland we have a flood of new residents and citizens :Koreans. Indians, Pakistanees, Africans,....endless, and they have no idea what you are talking about.
And they vote. They vote for Obama stuff.
It was during GWB’s term that I left the R’s. The ONLY thing he did that I agreed with was invading Iraq. He made it radical muslim “flypaper”.
I liked that video you pinged me with, reminds me of the GWB era.
I have a close relate who lost her house over that, got temped to get rich easy after it was too late.
