The Washington Post's Bob Woodward ripped into President Barack Obama on "Morning Joe" today, saying he's exhibiting a "kind of madness I haven't seen in a long time" for a decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of budget concerns.
"Can you imagine Ronald Reagan sitting there and saying, 'Oh, by the way, I can't do this because of some budget document?'" Woodward said.
"Or George W. Bush saying, 'You know, I'm not going to invade Iraq because I can't get the aircraft carriers I need?'" Or even Bill Clinton saying, 'You know, I'm not going to attack Saddam Hussein's intelligence headquarters,' ... because of some budget document?"
The Defense Department said in early February that it would not deploy the U.S.S. Harry Truman to the Persian Gulf, citing budget concerns relating to the looming cuts known as the sequester.
"Under the Constitution, the President is commander-in-chief and employs the force. And so we now have the President going out because of this piece of paper and this agreement. 'I cant do what I need to do to protect the country,'" Woodward said. "Thats a kind of madness that I haven't seen in a long time," he said.
Woodward's harsh criticism came after he stirred controversy last weekend by calling out Obama for what he said was "moving the goal posts" on the sequester by requesting that revenue be part of a deal to avert it.

Poor Bob. What’s a career Libtard to do? Having willfully blinded himself to the Dems’ evil for so long, how can he regain any credibility as a reporter when Obama’s inner Wright emerges? He can’t. Shut up, Bob, and just go away.
You make a good point.
Woodward feigns shock and seemingly ignores common knowledge that Obama hates the military and has deep Muslim sympathies.
Woodward isn’t stupid, nor is he blind.
There is no “madness” or incompetency going on at all...
He has been setting this up for a long time. Unless someone can point me in another direction, all the alarm bells need to be ringing...
We’ve got less than 30 days to stop Woodwards...’madman.’ 0bama is not a madman, but a political terrorsit...
If we get a “next time”...I think we need to inact legislation to require budgets cuts to non-constitutionaly mandated items FIRST.
Any bets on when Mr. Woodward will be silenced or forced to reword his comments? The administration cannot allow this sort of free speech from one of their own.
Some may listen, but there is a generation or two of Obama voters who, I bet, have no idea who Bob Woodward is. That being the case, who out there is in a position to be the one to point out that the emperor has no clothes and to have the low information voters actually take note?
I won’t be very quick to toss Woodward aside on this. He is the legitimate Dean of American print journalism. Thousands of reporters today started out wanting to be Bob Woodward or Carl Bernstein. That’s why I think that what he’s saying now is important. I know he’s a lib. I know he’s loathe to criticize the one...but I also know that he’s doing it and has done it before. Having Bob Woodward open his eyes to obama’s abuses and talking about it...and thereby giving permission to the establishmnet press to do likewise, could be huge.
That’s what the unions do in CA and the dems they support go along. They threaten to close parks, starve kids and old people, fire teachers and police, etc. And it’s all because the unions want to get even higher wages, healthcare, pensions and paid vacation. I worked with unions and have seen it firsthand.
I think the Brit Woodward may have had in mind was James Donald's character at the end of River Kwai. It was certainly my first thought when I heard his comment.
FUBO & FAD
I'm not sure that Nixon was "corrupt".Foolish? You betcha. And maybe other things as well. But when analyzing the catastrophe that is Osama Obama the standard of measurement must be Stalin...Mao...Bill Ayers...Saul Alinsky.
Um ..... Bob ..... you just haven't been paying any attention at all!
The “madness” is called called “American Leftism” and it afflicts quite a few people.
It’s a miracle! Bob Woodward opens his eyes for the first time in 4 years.
Meh. Nixon wasn't corrupt. He was anti-communist, domestically liberal, paranoid and insecure.
If that’s true, I wouldn’t want to be the coroner (and die from arsenic poisening).
Meh. Nixon wasn't corrupt. He was anti-communist, domestically liberal, paranoid and insecure.
Obama, on the other hand, is just plain evil.
Now go and do some more.
“In terms of corruption and its associated madness, Obama is Nixon on steroids!”
Wrong, Nixon wasn’t trying to destroy America!
