Chuck Hagel won confirmation Tuesday to become defense secretary over objections to his views on Middle East security and the administrations handling of an attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya.
On a 58 to 41 vote, the Senate confirmed the former GOP senator as four Republicans joined 54 Democrats in approving Hagel, ending a nearly two-month battle that included an unprecedented filibuster against the nominee.

according to this he voted no on cloture, said he didn’t know how he was going to vote, then voted yes. Hopefully he will explain his vote as he hasn’t been for Hagel.
Its been so damn long since I've heard any good news coming from DC. Its really demoralizing.
Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can start on your recovery. So, look on the bright side... we, as a country, are going to be starting that recovery pretty soon now.
It’s good you don’t believe Paul voted for Hagel because he didn’t. The story at the top of the thread is WRONG.

THANK YOU!
Rand Paul did NOT vote for Hagel! Click Right Here.
That was the cloture vote. The actual vote on his nomination came later.
The U.S. just sent Israel a telegram: “Sorry, Israel; you’re on your own. Stop.”
Apparently, Paul was agin’ him before he was for him.
Rand Paul voted to confirm Hagel.

What’s funny is that if Obama had appointed some obscure screaming code pink flunky they would have probably all voted to confirm. But since he picked a Republican who didn’t tow the party line by endorsing McCain his esteemed colleagues held up his nomination and 41 voted against him. They didn’t vote against him because he was too liberal, racist or incompetent; they voted against him because he made them look bad.

I’m afraid ole Rand ain’t what you think ole Rand is...
What an asshole!
Fortunately for Israel, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob reads all the telegrams.
Not so good for America though...
What would we do if Washington D.C. shut down for good? Could we survive without our benevolent Republicrat masters? It’s almost unimaginable.

Another younger Republican, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), had opposed Hagel out of concern that his financial disclosures have not been sufficient. Paul, a small-government conservative who, like his father former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), holds views that are usually at odds with neoconservatives and centrist Republicans, opposed lifting the filibuster in both cloture votes, but he ended up voting for Hagel in the actual confirmation.
Sad day :(
The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree!
