I am going to try to say this without too much rambling. Last night driving home, I turned on the radio to listen to Mark Levin. He is in the middle of his rant against McDonnell of Virginia. He then talks about Scott of Florida and lists the Repub governors who have now accepted Obamacare.
A few of those governors were Tea Party favorites McDonnell, Scott, Brewer, Kasich, Martinez.
It seemed so depressing. Every time we turn around, this guy in the White House continues to win his goals while our beliefs are constantly undermined.
This Lent, I have started to read more and more of the Bible, the passages from My Daily Bread and from My Imitation of Christ. A belief that I have had for a few years now is now hardening more and more. We continue to set these people up to be our saviors only to constantly have them betray our principles. I have come to recognize and believe more and more that there is only one Savior and that is Jesus Christ. True, He is not going to run for political office and he will not be here right now to set things straight as we think they should be.
Years ago, I thought that the system corrupted the individuals. Now I firmly believe that before an individual runs for political office, the wet finger goes in the air, and the individual chooses the political party they think will get them in office. The political individual is corrupt from the get-go and uses us to achieve their ends.
I just do not believe these people anymore. I see myself becoming less involved in worldly and political events. I want to get more involved with Jesus, with God. The leftists can have it. Let it all crumble. I will side with Jesus.
Give to Caesar what is Caesor’s, and give to God what is Gods. Gods image is not on the money so I will pay my taxes. But I will give glory to God, not to the government.
He’s certainly not called us to nihilism, which is what I think many of us are tending to. I’m really not comparing apples and oranges though. What I’m talking about is written much better in chapter 14 of “Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret”. Outside of the Bible, that chapter has influenced my thinking more than anything else.
It’s better read but here’s a reading of it on youtube.

What do you want - an armed insurection? I am not ready for that and neither are many others. When the system collapses, we will see how it shakes out.
Too late.
USA is owned lock stock and barrel since FDR and the 1930s.
No one can argue it is not a socialist neo-marxist country.
I am so sorry I missed that one. Hopefully I can remember to snag it from his website and listen later today.
That’s great, but yes, it is indeed apples.
My wife is 8 thousand miles away now, working on her “apples”

My book is being uplodated today as ebook and will be avail by hard copy in time for CPAC. These are my “oranges.” www.TokyoRove.com
And we are liquidating our real estate and other stuff to a degree, contemplating a move to more red states or over seas. Call that our “fruit salad.”
What you posted is great, but make no mistake, it is apples.
Thanks for posting this. I dearly needed it. Have you read “Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret”? Read Chapter 14.
Or you can listen:

Not it’s not. You should move to Oklahoma. Honestly, Texas is probably better.
Excellent essay by Fred Reed.
It’s too bad his writings are not welcomed here on FR (try to post one of his pieces as a “standalone thread” and see what happens)...
Is it time to “shoot the bastards” yet?
If you withhold attention, energy, outrage, you actually hurt them more. They start to look foolish up there, swinging madly at enemies who don't exist. How could they have won the last without angry conservative opponents to mock?
Ronald Reagan got this. He never wavered from being a nice guy. He never got into angry exchanges with his opponents. He presented his positive vision, expressed his belief in the ability of the little guy to overcome all obstacles when given a chance, and used humor to completely disarm his Leftist opponents, who were every bit as nasty as today's group. George W. Bush perhaps understood it, but lacked the acting ability and libertarian sensibilities to pull it off. He ended up caricatured as a dunce, whereas when they tried so hard to do the same thing to Reagan, it never really worked.
Work on your business. Build up your community. Ignore the Weathermen who have taken over the White House. Their time is coming, and they are ultimately too incompetent and unappealing to keep from being swept away by the next change.
After realizing that we are helpless to matter at the top, our little group has started at the bottom, i.e., school board, city board, state reps. We are determined to reign in the spending and keep out the trash as much as possible.
I agree with your sentiments, but even though we should all be getting closer to Jesus, regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in, giving up and giving in is as much as saying that our own children and grandchildren are not worth the fight. I realize that at 65 I’m probably NOT going to see the kind of change in America I’d like to see. However, my children married late and their children are toddlers. Do we give them up? HEAVEN FORBID! If we fail to fight on, we are saying that they are on their own. I WILL NOT do that to my offspring.
Am I discouraged? YES! Is that ever a reason to give up? Not while we have breath. So, go have a good cry, get it out of your system, and let’s get working to save what we can. As discouraging as it is, there are still some good states that are making a difference, doing the right thing. We need to stay active, get the best bang out of our buck that we can, especially on the state level and pray like tomorrow is the end. Just think of this. Do you think Jesus was never discouraged? Do you think that He did not have thoughts of giving it all up, that maybe it wasn’t worth it, after all? It says He was tempted in every way, just as were are. He was not just our redeemer, but our example, to stay in there for righteousness sake and fight the good fight. We all feel like that more often than we want to, and the Enemy knows we are discouraged. All the more reason to stick it in his face...every win we can eke out! I’ll be praying for you! Don’t quit!
Are you saying that Jesus taught that it is our duty to pay taxes?
What's your take on his words, "sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor?"
Your tax money pays for abortions, you think Jesus accepts that, because of an image on a coin?
Read your Bible. They were trying to trick Jesus by having him say do not pay taxes. Instead, he asked them whose image is on the coin. Caesar, they answered. He then said pay unto Caesar what is Caesars - the coins - but pay unto God what is Gods.
There are also many instances in the New Testament where it states to obey your supieriors.
Is this being posted to demoralize the right? Are you working for a Soros-organization? If not, you could get paid for this. I, for one, am noting buying. Resist we much!
I don’t cherrypick it, but I do read the Bible.
If you think public servants are your superiors, I can’t help you.
If I have any questions I’ll be sure to contact you.
So give up voting R because it’s the lesser of evils. It’s really not - evil is evil whether it’s cloaked in donkey skin or elephant. Once the leftists of both parties destroy everything, the adults can move in and clean it up. I too voted for Romney because I thought that getting Obozo’s hands off the wheel was the most important thing we could do to preserve the country - now the fools are happily helping him destroy it. No more - I will only vote for a reliably conservative Christian from now on.
You are deceived.
In America, our "superiors" are not Barack Obama and the District of Criminals.
It is the Constitution, and freedom.
9/10ths of what the Federal government is doing is not in the Constitution. You know it.
They are nothing but usurpers of power and political posers. They are most certainly NOT my superiors, and God knows it.
