If you withhold attention, energy, outrage, you actually hurt them more. They start to look foolish up there, swinging madly at enemies who don't exist. How could they have won the last without angry conservative opponents to mock?
Ronald Reagan got this. He never wavered from being a nice guy. He never got into angry exchanges with his opponents. He presented his positive vision, expressed his belief in the ability of the little guy to overcome all obstacles when given a chance, and used humor to completely disarm his Leftist opponents, who were every bit as nasty as today's group. George W. Bush perhaps understood it, but lacked the acting ability and libertarian sensibilities to pull it off. He ended up caricatured as a dunce, whereas when they tried so hard to do the same thing to Reagan, it never really worked.
Work on your business. Build up your community. Ignore the Weathermen who have taken over the White House. Their time is coming, and they are ultimately too incompetent and unappealing to keep from being swept away by the next change.
After realizing that we are helpless to matter at the top, our little group has started at the bottom, i.e., school board, city board, state reps. We are determined to reign in the spending and keep out the trash as much as possible.
