The Air Force confirms that two Russian bombers on Tuesday circled the U.S. island territory of Guam, prompting U.S. jets to scramble and respond.
Two U.S. Air Force F-15 fighter aircraft, operating out of Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, intercepted the Russian Tu-95 bomber aircrafts, which left in a northbound direction, said military spokeswoman Capt. Kim Bender.

That bastard in the White House has turned us into an international laughing stock.
He SHOULD be impeached.
Ruskies new hussein was playing golf and wouldn’t be interrupted. They could get away with anything now that he has more flexibility in deniability.
He SHOULD be impeached.
Joe Biden wouldn't be a bigger joke? Really?
They are both bad. Impeach one then the other.
The difference between Biden and Obama is Biden is too stupid to be dangerous. Obama is not. He is a dangerous, manipulative ideologue with an anti-American Agenda.
Hope and change.
He’s just competing with Bush’s compassionate wars against the religion of peace.
Oh, but those Russkies are in for a surprise. Don't they know we allow gays in the military now?
They'd better stand down if they know what's good for them.
The important thing is did they intercept them before they were in range for a potential attack or after.
did the US do the “usual drill”?
I think the article is wrong. The original and more detailed article in the Washington Free Beacon states only that “Defense officials said the bombers tracked over Guam were likely equipped with six Kh-55 or Kh-55SM cruise missiles that can hit targets up to 1,800 miles away with either a high-explosive warhead or a 200-kiloton nuclear warhead.” This describes the capability of the usual cuise missile complement but does not claim that nuclear weapons were carried.
This year should see greater confidence boosting between US and Russian strategic air arms. Russian Tu-95MS Bear Hs are scheduled to visit Barksdale and B-52Hs are scheduled to visit Engels on an exchange program.
It would be big, big news if either the US or Russia began carrying nukes aboard bombers. The persistence of the B-52 and TU-95 in operational inventories is a tribute to their robustness and capability — despite designs that are now well over fifty years old.
