A school principal said no white children were allowed at an after-school tutoring program, and now some parents call it discrimination.
The principal at Mission Viejo Elementary in Aurora sent a letter telling parents the program is only for students of color. Parents CBS4 talked with said they were shocked to see, in this day and age, what they consider to be segregation.
I was infuriated. I didnt understand why they would include or exclude certain groups, said parent Nicole Cox, who is white.
Coxs 10-year-old daughter needs tutoring. After receiving the notice, other parents complained to the schools principal, Andre Pearson.
We have come so far in all of these years to show everybody that everyone is equal, that everyone should be treated equally this is a form of bullying, Cox said.
Before Cox could complain to the school, Pearson contacted her directly. His voicemail only seemed to reinforce the segregated tutoring idea.
This is Andre Pearson. Its focused for and designed for children of color, but certainly, if we have space for other kids who have needs, we can definitely meet those needs, Pearson told Cox in the voicemail.
Pearson declined to comment on camera, but a district spokesperson claims it was all just a big misunderstanding.
I think what the answer is, is that he made a mistake, Tustin Amole with the Cherry Creek School District told CBS4.
The new tutoring program was started by parents of minority students to help bridge the achievement gap.
The district is now clarifying that the program wasnt meant to segregate anyone.
But we have had lots of students sign up for the tutoring. Many of them are white and we will be accepting all of them, Amole said.
I just want everybody to be treated equally, Cox said.
The new tutoring program began Wednesday. CBS4 was told a letter would be going out to parents to clarify the error that was made.
Water fountains and restrooms are next.........
In other words, you honkies best get your minds right and shut up.
White is the new black........
I guess white is not considered a color anymore.
It’s what they have thought all along. It’s just that they are bolder now.
I imagine white taxpayers still have to pay for the program, but their children just can’t participate.
Sounds fair to me, in today’s America . . .
+1
Good! Be calm, clear concise and assertive. Don’t pretend you don’t see the mistreatment. Minorities can’t keep having it both ways. What, they are shut out, so now they get a turn shutting others out? For how long?
The entitlement mentallity, and comfort with black vs white racial prejudice starts here, in the beginning grades, where children meet the world and are told what is acceptable.
White is all colors. Black is the one that’s an absence of color.
If white Americans are so stupid that they will vote for an incompetent, lazy, Marxist, racist, muslim for president, even after he did a terrible job on his first term, they deserve what comes their way.
This is Obama’s America, you can stay, if you play by his rules.
Stupid Americans. And I’ll bet 1/2 of those who are complaining vote for Hillary in 2016.
These parents need to get their kids into a private or home school, or start one of their own. Plus they need to get out of Kalipornia as fast as possible.
The person that wrote this needs some tutoring, the composition is terrible.
Was that sarcasm? I always heard it the other way around...or perhaps it's that memory thing acting up on me again.
This makes sense, if you accept the premise that minorities aren’t really equal to whites and must therefore be treated as inferior, even when trying to help them.
Its like allowing girls on boys teams, but not allowing boys on girls teams because everyone knows boys outperform girls in sports.
People who truly believed in equality wouldn’t think up these special “minority only” programs.
“White is the new black
Yeah, only without the entitlements.
Just say she’s 1/128th black.
If he was a white principal, he’d be fired.
The bigot needs to go.
I recommend a riot and burning of things.
Give the bigots-of-color something to think about.
