What makes you believe they don't already have them? Why didn't they use the tanks and drones?
You have a point, but how far must the “RULE OF LAW” go to accommodate the violent behavior of a suspect?
Laziness, stupidity, tyranny, and politics are no reason to abandon the rule of law, if that is your point.
So now if anyone questions due process and/or tries to square how the police handled this matter (or future matters) with our constitution and bill of rights, we are ‘bleeding heart liberals’ or ‘criminal apologists’. gotcha.
Can’t you have a civil discussion on these constitutional matters without resorting to emotional appeals and ad homin attacks? No one that I have seen is supporting the cop killer. There are legitimate questions on the process however. If I had not heard it all go down with my own ears, I would probably not be questioning a thing, but I did and now I am bothered by it all a great deal. Not because the left wing nutter died, but because what this might mean in the future if we just blindly accept everything we are told by ‘authorities’ or ‘the media’ for that matter.
The next dude holed up in a cabin might not be a killer..just a gun owner refusing to surrender his 2A rights/ weapons to Obama’s security forces. The police have set precedent here if legitimate questions are not even asked. I think that is all some of us are asking.
My whole point in arguing is that the police had no right to "Burn this mother efer down."
This in my eyes shows that they had no intention of taking Dorner alive. At that point, the law enforcers become vigilantes. They had him trapped in a hole. They could have waited him out. Instead, they went right to burning the cabin down.
Don't get me wrong. I understand the raw emotion the police have for "getting" this guy. My fault with them is that once they "got" him, they killed him. No matter what crime he committed, if he wasn't killed in the initial fire fight, every effort should have been made to take him alive.
Clearly and sadly anger and vigilante justice prevailed.
My secondary point is that the police burned down this cabin because they "suspected" it was Dorner. Until they are 100% clear who it is that is shooting at them, they should have assessed the situation and at least waited.
I in no ways defend Dorner or condone his alleged actions.

I thought the intentional burn is still in question, but your other points make sense given the burn was intentional.
They were not even 100 percent sure he did not have another hostage in the cabin I don’t think.

Anyone who really thinks this guy was going to be given a chance to surrender, ahem. Sorry but I don’t think they would have allowed him to do that.

Can you show me where in the US Constitution, law enforcement is restrained from using force to apprehend a fugitive who is shooting at them? Why didn't the killer/fugitive surrender to police?
Thanks for the link. Listened to it with great interest. The sheriff seemed to be saying that it could have been an insertion of gas with a lite flame and could have burned the house down. Still not clear on the ‘burner’ slang though. For the sake of our rule of law, I hope it was an accidental burn. It sure didn’t sound like it on the scanner though or from the audio of cops saying burn the mf out.
While I could care less that this crazy left wing cop killer died, I do care about our constitution, bill of rights and due process. What I heard yesterday on the scanner disturbed me greatly because it sounded like the cops had gone vigilante and were acting from revenge and not the rule of law. That is a dangerous development for everyone if true.

Those rounds are thought to have caused Dorner to crash his truck. He was forced to bail out and flee on foot to a nearby cabin.
It was there that heavily-armed SWAT officers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department - including McKay and Collins - engaged the former U.S. Navy Reserve lieutenant in a running gun battle.
KCAL-TV captured terrifying footage of officers taking cover and firing into the cabin. Hundreds of rounds could be heard.
As the battle unfolded, Dorner tossed a smoke grenade and tried to escape out the back door of the structure.
After shooting McKay and Collins, other officers - armed with M4 military assault rifles and Ruger Mini 14 semiautomatic carbines, drove him back inside.

So the deputy was killed at the cabin in question. While the perp was trying to bolt from the cabin during a gun battle.
