Dorner manhunt: Charred human remains found in burned cabin
Los Angeles Times ^ | Feb. 13, 2013 | Andrew Blankstein & others

Charred human remains have been found in the burned cabin where police believe fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner was holed up after trading gunfire with law enforcement, authorities said.

If the body is identified to be Dorner’s, the standoff would end a weeklong manhunt for the ex-LAPD officer and Navy Reserve lieutenant who is believed to be responsible for a string of revenge-fueled shootings following his firing by the Los Angeles Police Department several years ago. Four people have died, allegedly at Dorner’s hands.

Nope, wasn’t stating either of those things, merely “piggybacking” on your post to point out what I said.

So, by this statement, they (the police) weren't 100% sure that the person in the cabin was in fact Dorner?

If it wasn't Dorner I suppose they would expect the person inside to say so?

More likely he put another victim in the cabin, left ID and set the fire to slow the manhunt.

Until there is positive DNA ID no cop in So Cal is safe.

For those of you reveling in this "alleged" cop killer being burned alive without due process...

Well... I hope our government never labels any of YOU as someone dangerous that should be burned alive.

Honestly... Some people are just plain sick.

You mean like the two Asian ladies that were nearly shot to death by the police?

Big deal! Do you have any evidence that he didn’t murder people and ran off to hide like the chicken *hit that he was?

Funny, I thought in this Country it was just the opposite, innocent until proved guilty?

No, I'm not a cop hater, I stand behind them when they are correct and criticize them when they are wrong.

The problem is, too many of them abuse their power far too often these days.

Maybe if we got the public sector unions out of it they would again serve the people instead of the union goon leaders.

Yes. And that happened AFTER Dorner exhausted the legal system.

For some unfathomable reason the San Bernardino PD and the LAPD didn’t even want to give the system a chance to work on Dorner.

The even went as far as shooting up innocent civilians rather than risk having to take him to court.

When they had him cornered and rendered harmless to the general public, they chose to deploy “seven burners” to incinerate him alive “as planned” rather than allow the courts to process him through the system to a conviction and punishment.

One could very reasonably argue that this was also a vigilante action.

One could not defend this by saying it was the act of a single mad man.

Nor could one defend it by saying it was an accident.

It was a deliberate act.

IF the police, the people who are most familiar with the ins and outs of the justice system, have so little faith in it that they feel compelled to conspire to murder one of their own rather than risk the outcome of a trial, how much faith should the rest of us have?

Don’t read this as supporting Dorner in any way, shape or form.

I dispair over the efficacy of our legal system.

It is only a matter of time before enough people in our society have as little faith in the justice system as the police do and vigilantism becomes the norm.

Well... I hope our government never labels any of YOU as someone dangerous that should be burned alive.

Well, in this case, Dorner WAS dangerous. VERY dangerous. He had shot and killed a deputy earlier in the day. Maybe you think the cops should have waited this out and given Dorner even more chances to kill them?

It could be simpler than that. It could be they wanted to go home that evening instead of giving Dorner more opportunities to kill some of them. The guy clearly was out-there nuts and dangerous.

Your welcome...

If you don't mind me asking, was that sarcasm or legit?

Please tell me how the police were certain that he hadn’t taken hostages in the cabin they were so quick to burn?

Would it be OK with you if a couple civilians were burned alive by the police, as long as the succeeded in killing Dorner?

If not, why not?

Dorner is NO hero..he lived his life as a coward and died like one..Crain is a real hero

Here's the comment. Don't want to leave that behind. Well said. I love the way you put things.

I'm as wary of expansive government and the militarization of the police as anyone here. I also am as critical of the current state of police tactics and doctrine.

LAPD needs a good vetting, as do many other police departments across the country.

But I can tell the difference between tyrants engaged in political persecution and plain old bad policing in good faith. Get a grip.

Thanks I appreciate that..after watching the funeral, broke my heart seeing the wife of Michael Crain and those two babies ages 10 and 4 now without a father..so incredibly sad..Michael Crain was the REAL hero, who served this country..Dorner was just a thug who lived his life like a thug and died like the thug that he is..I hope he is burning in eternal hell right now
