The president spins his accomplishments on jobs, health care and deficit reduction in annual address.
President Obama put a rosy spin on several accomplishments of his administration in his 2013 State of the Union address. The president claimed that "both parties have worked together to reduce the deficit by more than $2.5 trillion." But that's only an estimate of deficit reduction through fiscal year 2022, and it would be lower if the White House used a different starting point. Obama touted the growth of 500,000 manufacturing jobs over the past three years, but there has been a net loss of 600,000 manufacturing jobs since he took office. The recent growth also has stalled since July 2012. He claimed that "we have doubled the distance our cars will go on a gallon of gas." Actual mileage is improving, but Obama's "doubled" claim refers to a desired miles-per-gallon average for model year 2025. Obama said the Affordable Care Act "is helping to slow the growth of health care costs." It may be helping, but the slower growth for health care spending began in 2009, before the law was enacted, and is due at least partly to the down economy.

His “won’t add a dime” statement is a repeat of the obvious lie he has repeated several times since 2008.
I think he is parsing words...it really won’t add a dime....just several billion dollars....
There were actual, verifiable facts used in the writing of this (Mis-)State(Ment) of the Union?. Not just the handy, made-up-on-the-spot, “factoids” so beloved of this regime, but a real reflection of what was and what is going on in the world.
Bizarro World is not even a very interesting place to visit, and certainly no place for a sane person to dwell for extended periods of time.

Layoffs announced at the Timet Plant
By NEWS9
TORONTO, Ohio
Union officials confirmed Tuesday that layoffs were expected at the Timet Plant in Toronto.
Union Staff Representative for District 1 John Puskar said it’s unclear how many steelworkers would be affected by the layoffs. Puskar said the company told the union that slow economic conditions forced them to reduce their workforce. The layoffs were scheduled to start next week.
At the first of the year, Precision Castparts Corp. took over the Timet Plant in Toronto. Puskar said the company is headquartered out of Colorado.
NEWS9’s Kelly Camarote spoke to Toronto residents Tuesday after news of the layoffs broke. Clark Francy explained what the plant means to the Gem City.
“It means a lot. Sure it does,” said Francy. “I know a lot of people who work there.”
Dan Shaffer also expressed concern about the layoffs.
“Timet employs a lot of people in Toronto,” said Shaffer. “It’s a shame. But it seems to be something that is more and more unavoidable these days.”
