When a New Zealand woman died in February 2010, her family swiftly pointed fingers at her 2.2 gallon a day Coke habit. Not the white powdery stuff, the drinkable, cola-y stuff. And although its taken three years, a coroner has found that the beverage was a major factor in her death. Coca-Cola had pointed out last year that too much water is bad for you as well, so its not surprising that the company disagrees with the ruling.
The 30-year-old mother of eight guzzled a whole lot of Coke for years before her death, and the coroner said a bunch of her health problems could be connected to the extreme amounts she ingested daily. He said that consumption likely played a role in the cardiac arrhythmia that killed her, reports the AFP.
I find that when all the available evidence is considered, were it not for the consumption of very large quantities of Coke by [the woman], it is unlikely that she would have died when she died and how she died, he found. He added that her Coke habit was a substantial factor that contributed to the development of the metabolic imbalances which gave rise to the arrhythmia. Although her family knew something wasnt right shed go crazy if she ran out, her mother-in-law said last year they figured her habit wasnt dangerous because Coke doesnt display any health warnings.
As such, the coroner suggested that Coca-Cola give consideration to the inclusion of advice as to quantity of caffeine on labels (in) its products and
adding appropriate warnings related to the dangers of consuming excessive quantities of the products.

Did someone hold her down & pour it down her throat?
Doesn’t matter if it’s regular sodas, or diet sodas....when you consume two gallons a day, you’ve got health issues to eventually occur.
They’re crying out for coke regulation.
Heaven forbid anyone should exercise good judgement.
Wait for proposals that Coke only be dispensed one ounce at a time (Bloomberg’s wet dream).
I drink a lot of soda but DANG..
They’re crying out for coke regulation.
Heaven forbid anyone should exercise good judgement.
If only she had lived in NYC, she’d be alive.
And collecting welfare, no doubt.
I would like to see the numerical toxicity levels of cola he came up with. Sounds like an awful coroner to infer something he cannot measure and can only glean from unscientific claims. A test for cola metabolite? Really? Maybe he was confusing cola with coke.. yes, that we can measure. Who hired this guy? He has questionable credentials, I would infer.
I could count the number of glasses of pop I’ve had since 2010 on my fingers. Decided at that time I had no desire to become a fat old diabetic.
That much of it is no doubt bad for you but that’s her fault, not the coca-cola company’s.
they figured her habit wasnt dangerous because Coke doesnt display any health warnings.
By far the dumbest damn quote in this whole damned story and shocking example how we have all been turned into a a herd of &*^*&%! Sheep!!!!
Imagine the side effects from all that carbonation!
I feel soory for the people in New Zealand. It has been turned into a petri dish for Statism.
Notice they don't say her weight. Bet she weighs over 400 pounds and has been on welfare AND MEDICAID for years and has an Obamaphone.
As they say all things in moderation, I know people who ended up fat old alcoholics. Almost anything can kill you if you have an addictive personality or refuse to use proper judgement. Why doesn’t anyone point their fingers at the family members that allowed her to continue her 2gal. a day habit? Oh yeah they probably can’t make any money suing themselves.
Anyone who consumes that amount of sugar daily is suicidal.
