When the reporter said, “African-American,” I hope that he was referring to people who were born in Africa. About 2/3 of Blacks, I know, hate being called African-Americans. They know that, since a dictionary defintion of “African” is “a resident of Africa,” an African-American must be anyone who was born in Africa, immigrated to the U.S., and became an American citizen. 3% of South Africans have ancestors who came from India. If one of them becomes a U.S. citizen, he or she would be an African-American.
I never accepted that term. Even before I escaped the lib/Dem mind control plantation, I refused to let anyone label me that way.
I'm a proudly unhyphenated American.
lets not forget I know many whites from Africa who now live here and they hate the term African AMerican as to the dummies out there they think AA is just black people
I have a few white South African friends. If they moved here their kids would be truly African-Americans but it won’t fly.
And if Israelis come and settle here they would be Asian Americans.
It’s all quite confusing.
