Remember when the mainstream media mocked a politician who had to attend five colleges to graduate, whose academic record was less than outstanding, and whose subsequent success was proof of nothing? Remember how that was supposed to be a threat to national security, the economy, and so much else? That was so 2008, so Sarah Palin. It turns out that former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE), who is now awaiting confirmation as Secretary of Defense, attended five colleges and was a "D" student. He volunteered to serve in Vietnam,

What gets me is that in the era Bush got his ‘C’, A Harvard degree still meant something. Getting a C there easily put Bush in the top 5% of the most intelligent people in the country, if not on the planet.
Last I read, A modern Harvard grad was somewhat less intelligent than the public at large. And there have been a number of episodes/articles/TV shoes that have backed that up pretty definitively.
To say nothing of the actual doings of modern Harvard grads....

Of course the academic ineptitude of folks like Ted Kennedy and John Kerry never seemed to be much of a media interest.
Sort of like worrying about Joe the Plumber’s trade license or the DNA of Palin’s Down Syndrome child instead of Baraq’s clearly dubious history.

Chuck Hagel couldn’t spell ‘C-A-T’ if you spotted him the ‘C’ and the ‘A’.

I understand at Harvard, one is not ‘allowed’ to fail. They want the cash and to indoctrinate.

In the Obama administration, starting at the top, the fewer the academic credentials the better ... and it's abundantly clear with their results. The most pathetic administration in this Nation's history.

My early college life was like that, but I went back to college three years ago and graduated summa cum laude last year. It’s amazing what a few tours in a war zone will do to straighten up a young flunkie.

Harvard (Ivy league, how to be a good liberal) is so overrated. I went to a two year, then a 4 year state school. My engineering degree is more useful than the crap they got. Gasp, I got an MBA from a state school.

Thanks for your service! Son in law did five tours. See my page.

Harvard...Getting a C there easily put...in the top 5% of the most intelligent people in the country, if not on the planet.
I wholeheartedly disagree. That indicates a particular skill among many others that constitute intelligence.

I think If I remember right- Bush has an iq of 136 or soemthign like that- not incredibly smart, but still genius- (Clinton I think had a high iq- and most presidents are i nthe genius category-
But let’s remember, Bush partied at harvard, was known as a party boy, and still managed to pull off a C average in one of the hardest schools in America at that time-
