Three Israeli surfers went to the aid of eight children struggling in the waters off Hawaii on Saturday, Channel 2 television reported, after huge waves began surging toward the coast. The three - Tzvika Elias, Yair Naftali and Gabi Liptz - were hailed as heroes by the childrens parents.
We had gone to a remote beach half an hour from Honolulu, 30-year-old Elias, who lives in New York, told Channel 2. The waves there were high, huge breakers about four meters high, and as the minutes past, the waves got stronger and even higher.
Elias and his friends then saw a group of children aged between 12 and 14 who had gotten into difficulties in the water. As we neared the children we saw that they had been swept out to sea and were being pounded by the huge waves, he told the television. On the shoreline we saw the mothers watching powerless as their children were drowning in front of them. Yair and I, who were at that point together in the water, tried with all our might to reach the group to try to get them away from the strong waves.

I am on the Big Island right now and will keep an eye on the local news for this story.
Good for these guys!
Might be Sandy Beach. The waves aren't usually too high there, but they will smash your head into the sand.
The UN will pass a new resolution condemning Israel after the PA accuses the surfers of attacking the kids to drink their blood.
And of course, Obama, the CBC, Biden, and the rest of the PLO lobby, likely including the likes of Boxer, Feinstein, Nadler et al, will join in.
I was thinking that, too. Waves seldom get four meters high there, but Sandy Beach has a deceivingly strong beach break and a bad undertow as well.
It’s a good thing that the Israelis were there! I can guarandamntee that Hawaiians would not only NOT have rescued the haole kids but would have surfed right over the top of them. I know this from personal experience. I will never forget the shout of “Get out of my way haole” while I was drowning there. I was literally saved at the last moment by another tourist.
Thank God for these three brave men.
