I have to admit I don’t know enough about Rand Paul to support him 100% yet. He certainly seems more conservative than Rubio. I just hope he doesn’t become another liberal.
fair enough statement .. for those voters that are actually attracted to politicians and care about politics to begin with. There are a lot of voters who don't give a rat's ass about principles. They vote based on a low information voter perception of who looks & speaks better better and who they and their friends can identify with. so we need someone with principles but who could also reach low information agnostic voters (not hardened dems) or all of this is academic.
Where did the "people with principles that actually stand for something" end up in the primaries?
After McCain you and those like you had four years to present an acceptable alternative to Romney. You failed. Spectacularly. Romney presented a strong case, in spite of what many here claim, but it was really never his election to win.
“Where did the “people with principles that actually stand for something” end up in the primaries?”
After the GOP-E and Romney with his war chest systematically outspent and slaughtered anyone who slightly resembled a conservative, most with principles decided to not vote for a pro-gun control, pro-socialized healthcare, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage liberal from Mass.
We may have found our savior with Dr. Carson- yet to be determined, but he is the best looking possibility. I made a error a few years back by supporting John Bolton, before I knew that he was pro-abort. (He is absolutely the first Pro Gun, Pro abort person I have ever seen. On the board of the NRA.) But since Carson is the top neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins, I think that I know already where he likely stands on abortion. The Second Amendment is an unknown, but Carson seems to support the Constitution.
Ted Cruz, my favorite
Me too. I like him much better than Rubio.
BINGO - Rubio will be right there - 'acceptable' to dems - just like McCain, Charlie Crist, and Romney. Yep - the GOP likes to go with 'those who can win...;
Which one of these two will exhort the people to reinstate the Republic by all means necessary?
Meanwhile the Contitution is a charred pile of ashes in the white house garbage.
Why do you think that?
Do you sometimes fall into your father's ignorant blather? I can't imagine why you'd say [or wonder] such a thing.
Well, my father never had ignorant blather.
Ron Paul is an ignorant sot.
I would be disappointed if Rand Paul fell into that category.

I would be, too. I don't want, however, to exclude him from consideration because of his father. Let him rise or fall on his own account.
