Two women who were shot by Los Angeles police in Torrance early Thursday during a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer were delivering newspapers, sources said.

The women, shot in the 19500 block of Redbeam Avenue, were taken to area hospitals, Torrance police Lt. Devin Chase said. They were not identified. One was shot in the hand and the other in the back, according to Jesse Escochea, who captured video of the victims being treated. It was not immediately known what newspapers the women were delivering...

I looked at the LAT web-page and was horrified by the picture. No, not the 50+ bullet holes in the truck. Those are just a result of fear, poor training, affirmative action and political correctness. You know, typical blue state city socialism. No, what really horrified me was the POlice car. Is that a Broncho Bamma bumper sticker on it?

The drivers of the truck may be charged with something. I suspect they will be told that if they don’t press charges, no charges will be filed on them.

Part of the game.

Every cop involved in shooting up that pick-truck with two LADIES inside need to be in prison for the rest of their lives.

I'd sure like to know what these women did to deserve all those bullets fired at them.

Did they brandish the classified ads in a threatening manner? Perhaps they had a handful of semiautomatic rubber bands or high capacity plastic newspaper sleeves?

Let me guess what happened here: Police in an unmarked car started following the women, who panicked & attempted to get away from the unidentified police car. Police started shooting without provocation. They will say the truck movements were suspicious. If that justifies riddling the truck with bullets, then the police state is firmly in place.

The stench of fear is heavy in the LA air. If I was a large black man and/or drove a pickup in that area, I think I might think twice about going to the store at night. What do delivery men/women do, especially at night, now that they are in serious risk of being shot by jittery LA police?Who wants to deliver the morning paper tomorrow, raise your hand?

“same make, model, year and color as that of the shooter”

Sounds like typical media misinformation.

They were driving a Blue Toyota Pickup, and if you haven’t noticed yet it looks exactly like a GREY NISSAN PICKUP.

They were looking for a Nissan Titan and the truck that was shot up was definitely a Toyota Tacoma.

Sheesh...Flashbacks to Barney Fife come to mind. The LA police should at least warn the innocents in other towns that they will be hunting in their territory and that everyone should take cover until they leave town.

The stench of fear is heavy in the LA air.

All things are relative. The 5.56mm rifle cartridge is not nearly as powerful as common hunting cartridges from the late 19th century and early 20th century - particularly and starting with the .30-'06 and most any other rifle cartridge of thereafter. The .270, .243, .300 Savage, .257 Roberts... what else... oh yeah, even the .30-40 Krag, all more powerful than the 5.56mm Nato - not to mention the .45-70 Springfield from the 1870's.

It's powerful enough, though, to let's say, "hurt very very much" out to about 400 yards or so, depending on which loading and the barrel length of the rifle shooting it, which makes it a cannon alongside any handgun cartridge.

(Well, any handgun cartridge a sane person would shoot, that it, up to and including the .44 magnum. No offense to some of the guys who shoot ubermagnums. You know who you are.)

Note the reflexive refusal, twice, to admit that complete incompetence was the sole reason for this disaster: It “appears” that they are not “directly related”; i.e., well, these two Chinese ladies delivering newspapers “appear” not to be in any way like a 270-pound black man, but, hey, you know, looks can be deceiving, I still think they could be in some way that we just haven’t discovered yet.

Hmmm. Look at the shot placement; they were going for headshots. No warning, just opened fire, shooting to kill. I guess it is really easy to mistake two ladies in a different colored, and different brand of truck for a single man.

If he wasn’t a complete commie nutball, I’d be siding with Donner. Its pretty obvious that the Torrence PD and LAPD have run completely off the rails. THEY need to be disarmed, not private citizens.

I wonder what Jack Dunphy is going to have to say about this?

You can have disdain for police but a rabid dog that will openly target them is an absolute danger to all and conjures fear in police. He has lost his conscience and any moral compass. That is one individual to fear along with stupid pig jihadist, they have no right to life anymore.

And they want us to give up our weapons so these trigger-happy, vengeance seeking cops can ‘protect’ us. LOL

How many bullet holes are in that truck? Twenty? Thirty? I guess the easier question is, how many bullets do the guns of two LAPD officers hold?

If the standing order was to shoot on sight, the most basic rules of shooting — know what you’re shooting at — were ignored here.

On cops side though I will give them that the first number and letter on the women’s license plate are the same as the truck they are looking for.

No good. The target wasn't the truck; the target was a 270-pound black guy, and these guys blew it. This is a textbook case of not knowing what you're shooting at.

Highly trained cops need 30 to 40 rounds to take out 2 unarmed women and they want to limit my magazine size to 10?
