My thoughts and prayers with those affected by this oncoming winter storm. Everyone stay warm and stay safe.
Well there is no way I can finish this thread.:)
The jump back into classical came when I dated a lady who liked to go to concerts, and I devoured the whole classical music scene in Los Angeles. There is an irony there.
During my years in the Philadelphia area, I never went to see a classical music concert at all. Or an opera. My father was terrified of going into Philly after dark to see the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Academy of Music. Back then, 50 years ago, Center City was much safer than today, and he was just afraid of the blacks. The first and only concert I attended was in 1962 at Garden State Race Track (now gone) in Cherry Hill (NJ) when Fiedler came to Philly to conduct the Philadelphia Orchestra with Earl Wild in an all-Gershwin program.
My first real "concert" after that was Donizetti's "Lucia" with Beverly Sills at the Seattle Opera in 1972 when I was in the Army at Fort Lewis.
Concerning the Tea Party, my group disbanded after the election. So goes the war.
Sorry about the format error. Haven’t had one in years. Trying again;
You got it;

Ahhhh...Mahler! That gives me fond memories of Dad and me, going to test out speakers in the Hi-Fi Store, with his Stereo Album of Mahler’s Choral Symphony tucked under his arm! :-)
Thanks for the memory!

Bernstein? Solti? Bruno Walter?
I honestly don’t remember...it was a FEW years ago! LOL.
He also brought Also Spracht Zarathustra, and Carmina Burana for variety! He liked to shake the windows and rattle the walls! :-)
Thinking back...I think it WAS Bernstein.
On New Years Eve 2011, I took “Carmina Burana” apart for the Canteen, much like I did for “Messiah” for Christmas. People here thought it was — ahem! — strange. I didn’t repeat it this past New Years Eve.
Have a wonderful weekend, beachy...((HUGS))
