Mossberg is adding four new models of MVPMossberg Varmint Predatorrifles to their catalog for 2013. The new rifles make up the Patrol series, and are compact workhorse bolt guns chambered in 5.56 NATO and 300 AAC Blackout.
Obviously marketed towards law enforcement and other civil servants that could use a good rifle, the MVP Patrol rifles will no doubt find homes with shooters of all types.
The MVP is a Mossberg 4×4 that accepts AR-15 box magazines. Otherwise its a straightforward bolt-action rifle with eyes on simplicity and accuracy while still keeping costs down. The Patrol rifles differ from the standard MVP; they have black stocks and short, 16-inch bull barrels.
Mossberg guarantees that their MVP rifles shoot 1 MOA out of the box. They have target crowns in addition to the heavy barrels.

They also have a version with a threaded barrel and flash suppressor. It just begs for a suppressor.

I like it.
The 300 Blackout would be awesome and could be as neat as Rugers .308 scout rifle.

That could kill somebody.
Someone should outlaw that.

Won't be on my short list. If I'm going to lug a bolt action around I want decent barrel length and a better accuracy than 1 MOA (I assume at 100 meters?).

The 300 Blackout would be awesome and could be as neat as Rugers .308 scout rifle. Yup. Seems like Mossberg is leaning more towards the Savage Hog Hunter design, though. Just a smidge more "tactical".

Looks like a blacked out version of a Gibbs .303.

Rather similar, except the 300 AAC is designed to accurately shoot 220 grain streamlined bullets at subsonic velocities, as well at 125 grain bullets at about 2400 fps.
This make them very versatile rifles. I would love to have one with a scope and a suppressor. A wonderful woods rifle.

I don’t want the thing either but, most sniper action is under 51 yards.
Just read that on Herndon publication. Can’t paste the link because a Nook doesn’t have that ability. So stoopit...

If so, a .22 will be just as sure as a .223.

Love that. I’m going to have to order myself a bumper sticker with it.
