Karl Rove's American Crossroads has started a new group to make sure the 2014 Senate races produce zero Todd Akins. But it turns out some conservatives like Rove less than Akin.
-snip-
The Senate Conservatives Fund's Matt Hoskins told Politico the Crossroads group was the "Conservative Defeat Project." Free Republic posters mocked "Tokyo Rove." On Breitbart.com, Ben Shapiro called Rove and his cohorts, "The Bush insider team that helped lead to the rise of Barack Obama." RedState editor Erick Erickson said the Conservative Victory Project was sure to pick losers. "I dare say any candidate who gets this groups support should be targeted for destruction by the conservative movement." Erickson wrote. "Theyve made it really easy not to figure out who the terrible candidates will be in 2014." In another post at RedState, Daniel Horowitz warned of an enemy within under the headline "The Snakes in the GOP Grass":

Guys like Akin wouldn’t be a problem without guys like Rove running to the sound of fire to start shooting at them.
The media will continue to do it because they know moderates will react like Pavlov’s dogs.
Akin was Michelle Bachmann’s baby, not the tea party, and Rove should have backed Palin’s female candidate, and we would have won the seat.
Poor Karl - as much as he hates on Akin, the MSM still won’t invite him to hang out with the cool kids in their Che t -hirts and listen to Springsteen albums.
Tokyo Rove recklessly squandered almost $200 million of his PAC donors hard-earned dollars on a campaign that only benefited the media owners who pocketed the advertising money. His PAC donors should be outraged at his gross incompetence.
Well, I won’t go as far as Rove, but I do think we conservatives need to do a better job vetting our candidates. Akin, Angle, Christine O’Donnell - these were all first-class political train wrecks. I absolutely believe conservatives can win general elections, but we need to look long and hard at what they’re about and whether or not they are ready for the spotlight.
Now Onyx, Really...
Anything positive having to do with Palin must be mocked, derided and such. You don’t want the mental giants of Free Republic’s PDS wing to become upset do you? ;)
I am amazed that any of that breed still wanders the wilds of Asgard...and lately it seems they are multiplying like the (democ)Rats they are.
I don’t remember Bachmann pushing Akin. She may have, but I remember Huckabee vocally backing Akin in the primary. You are correct that Palin had backed a great candidate with Steeleman, and people like rove should have rallied behind her.
Akin was a product of his own overinflated ego and was supported by people who have no clue about how to gain and exercise political power. This was not a battle of political ideology, but one of the realities of electoral politics. Akin was a decent guy who was dumb as a box of rocks when it came to political savvy and his supporters, many of whom were Freepers, were even worse. He will forever be the poster child for why the Republicans do not control the Senate.
Mister Akin however, is a proud fool. With Akin's nonsensical and embarrassingly-below-ignorance-level command of simple biology, and his blissful insouciance about streaking his painful stupidity over the airways... this "special" human had no business running for anything, and no business staying in a race he could never win. He was (and still is) a sitting duck for attack from lefty "news" peeps, and sadly, their attacks would be legitimate.
The vacuous Mister Akin (and his supporters) chose to gift a precious senate seat to a committed lefty, and Rove at least saw this one happening.
Again, I believe that Rove is more of a centrist than a conservative; however he was right about (ugh) Akin, and is right that we can't afford another just like him. This much I yield to Rove.
Typical RINO whining.
Crossroads/Rove funneled that money to the MSM by buying ads
LOVE THAT, thanks for posting.
Tokyo Rove is all about scamming consulting fees from PAC donors and recklessly wasting their hard-earned money on failed advertising and dinosaur-era political strategies.
Rove may be right about Akin, but why do you “yield” to him about that. Almost everybody but Akin was right about Akin. It’s not like it took a brain surgeon to figure that out.
