Thank you for saying that, I have maintained that position for years.
Now prepare for a bombardment of ridicule by those who dogmatically maintain pot is less dangerous than alcohol.
You think it’s worse than meth or bath salts? Hmmm..
Jesus drank wine.
When I was a Prosecutor, almost to a man in both the CA’s office and among the police, we hated the marijuana laws and thought it should be legalized.
It’s a fairly small crowd of the same 10 or so lunatics. I’m used to it.
Prohibition failed to curb use.
Mobs earn spectacular profits and kill by the tens of thousands.
End Prohibition.
This country isnt worth a damn if it goes down this road anyway.
This is the road we were on before prohibition. Free people have the freedom to both destroy their life or make something of it. In either case, a free person is responsible.
Starting in the 60s things have gotten progressively worse and Id put a lot of it on weed and psychedelics. At this point Id say its barely worth a damn. Booze has been around through the ups and downs and doesnt change someones personality in the same way.
I do agree that as a former tripper from that era that LSD etc did impact at least the noisy part of the generation.
But if you look at the radicals and leaders they were mostly fairly rich well off Communist families (or not)Jewish urban and suburban young people who were pre boomers rather than boomers...nearly 30 years old leading around college uninformed who had a fear of the draft
One could blame secular progressive Judaism or Communist indoctrination same as pot by your logic..or the draft.
Or the music...or jazz or beatniks
and so forth
Freepers don't get weed...I haven't smoked regularly since 1980 but today (I'm in Dixie) nearly all pot smokers I know over 25 are conservatives.
It could be geographies though.
I go up north and 40-60% of whites I know are liberals and most do not smoke dope.
Not so down here..stoners like the rest of us..trend right..in my homestate whites voted GOP 88-90%
But I do agree on the influence of the dreaded ergot...no question..it influenced not just kids but folks all through the culture
I knew it even then...so did folks like Huxley and Hoffman even earlier
but with age you realize the folly..admittedly...there is no more genuine wisdom in 10 hours of Owsley than in a bottle of Jack....but no doubt a lot more comfort in the latter
I do not recommend LSD.
Its coming those two clowns, and you think its a good idea? Think again. Anything coming from the left is to be opposed 100%. Period.
Actually, I agree with EVERYONE on some things. I Agree with Satan that Jesus is the Son of God.
If it was legal to rape and murder, would you? Or is rape and murder just something that is not in your nature to do?
I don’t really think legality has a lot to do with whether or not someone does something, especially something as trivial as smoking pot.
They know itll make people lazy and dull and need more democrat welfare.
At the same time they are going to back off of the tobacco smokers, and the beer drinkers, and the salt on my McDonalds french fries, right?
Nah, didn’t think so.
If they want to call for ‘an open dialogue’ or say that the issue needs to be examined again or some other happy-talk, fine. But don’t admit you were wrong.
I’m assuming you are being sarcastic. If you are not, I say this: A system founded on that principle is doomed to failure.
Come to think of it, here we are...
You think its (alcohol) worse than meth or bath salts? Hmmm..”
Yes.Alcohol has ruined more families, wrecked more motor vehicles, killed more people, caused more property damage, raped more women, etc. than any drug ever has.
I don’t like pot. I don’t smoke pot. I tried it in college and hated it. That aside, I hate the war on some drugs even more.
If someone wants to smoke pot, that’s their business. As long as they aren’t driving, I don’t have a big problem. As far as the feds go, they need to stay out of these areas and leave it for the states.
Baloney. The federal War on Drugs has been a dog from the get-go; a complete over-reach of federal powers. Many on the "right" feel this way as well.
Fools who think that their "freedom" is increasing have no clue that legalization of ANYTHING is ONLY done when a Beauracracy and TAXES are created to cover them.
Count on it.
