One other point: I’m seeing reports of media and sheriff’s dept. personnel “praising” the dirtbag for “caring for” the boy during this last week. Many are reacting badly when they hear this. I’ll just go on record to note that we had a situation in which the kidnapper was both (a) clearly unstable; and (b) possibly watching TV about himself.
As a direct result, news reports needed to be careful what they said for fear of possibly causing a disaster - not because of some semblance of sympathy for the perp, but precisely because of fear about what he might otherwise do.
FBI went in the bunker to rescue the boy. These LEs are not giving much information other than the boy is safe and being treated at a local hospital.
At least one report did say he had a TV, so I suspect that is why the news about him was was circumspect.
