"If its recoiling with his cheek pressed against it like that, hed have a dandy bruise across the side of his face!" It's just the opposite. It's called a cheek weld. If you don't press your cheek against the stock before firing a high powered rifle, the recoil may slam the stock against your face and give you a shiner. It also steady's your head. Someone coached 0banana how to do it properly. I learned that the hard way at the range in basic training firing my M1 Garand a long time ago (Army range NCOs used to take delite in leaving out that little detail in their training until we fired the first clip of ammo).
To illustrate, go to 5:50 on the following video for illustration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2rMoSfMlcE
The stock of the M1 is shorter than the shotgun 0banana is firing, so the guy in the vid is welding his thumb to his cheek.

It’s ported on both sides. Interesting it only has one choke in.
To: smokingfrog
Thanks for that link. Here is the image of the gun he's pictured with. I still wonder why no smoke from the near-side ports?

Looks to me like a Browning Citori Lightning Sporting Clays model in 12 gauge with 28” barrels. It has the Browning Sporting pad (not the honeycomb brown field model), and a front Hi-Viz bead and mid-bead. It’s not a Special Sporting because it has the low post rib. The typical lightning type fore end as opposed to the schnable type found on the 525, 625, and 725 guns. Never seen a 28 gauge browning that was ported, mostly 12’s and some 20’s.
Sort of a nice general purpose target O/U (i.e. too short for sporting, too light for a dedicated skeet gun). Interesting that it has a Diana Grade extended choke in the top barrel, but either a flush choke or no choke (bad idea) in the bottom barrel.
