Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has unveiled the country's newest fighter jet, which officials claim can evade radar.
Ahmadinejad said at a Saturday ceremony broadcast on state TV that Qaher-313, or Dominant-313, showed Iran's will to "capture peaks."
Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi says Qaher is "fully indigenous," designed and built by Iranian aerospace experts. The domestically designed and developed Qaher-313 is similar to the US-built F/A-18, the report said.
Photos released by the official IRNA news agency shows Qaher as a single-seat jet, described as a fighter-bomber that can combat both other aircraft and ground targets.

I’ve looked over all the photos.
There a a lot of things wrong with this “fighter”.
First, its too small. It is about 1/2 scale.
Second, The engine intakes and exhaust are tiny, even for the 1/2 scale size. It would barely produce enough power to take off.
Third, the canopy glass is wavy, looks like plastic. Also there isn’t sufficient room to close the canopy withthe pilot seated.
Fourth, no lock down hooks on the canopy mechanism. Further, the hold-open mechanism is offset on one side, not centered, and looks like it is just a stick to wedge it open.
Fifth, no HUD.
Sixth, Aerodynamically, this thing is a mess. The Canards are fixed, not fully pivoting (like all supersonic control surfaces). The canards are inline with the rear wings; the resulting flow over the rear wings would be disruptive. The chord of the rear wing appears to be incredibly thick, only suitably for bi-plane speeds. And what of those bent-down tips? You only see that in the movies.
Seventh, the landing gear is almost certainly borrowed from one of their F-5s, but no apparent retraction capability exist for the rear assemblies.
I’m very confident saying that this is a prop made out of plywood, sheet metal and plastic.
I was thinking the same thing. Its a prop to re-assure the masses.
“...no pilot would ever survive a dogfight or land the thing looking through that canopy. “
Very astute observation!
It’s no mistake that there are no pictures of this thing in the air. It looks like those planes from the movie “Hot Shots”.
Hope they build fighter jets better than they build oil derricks.
I think it might be made of sugar. Cake Boss technology.
I wonder how they got the aircraft up onto the turntable, ramps? No gantry crane visible.
This is a very small "aircraft", about the size of an A-4, I'd guess.
Not much room for a radar dish in the nose. Can't see out of the canopy worth a hoot, and feeble radar. It will need all the "stealth" it can get!
Moderator, please delete this photo or the whole comment. The photo takes too long to load, & I have a 10-30 mbs connection.
“I’m too close (it’s too slow), switching to guns!”
If that is a real plane, does it fly? No photos showing it airborne. I agree with the others, it looks like a mockup to me.
Where does the main landing gear go when its retracted? I don’t see any evidence of internal weapons stores or hard points. No gun or a place to mount one. No way to mount external fuel stores. No glare shield covering the instrument panel. They show the helmet on top of exposed instrument wiring. The head rest on the ejection seat is in between the pilot’s shoulder blades. His knees are chest level. No nozzle on engine exhaust. The fuselage appears to have skin that was heat shrunk.
Total fake.
Total
The last time I saw something like that it was parked in front of the Piggly Wiggly for a quarter a ride.
LOL that freakin thing looks ridiculous. I’d wager the damned thing cannot even fly!!!
Everything in Arabic except the F-313 on the side of this balsa wood wonder.
Precisely!
I wish I could post that in Farsi...
5.56mm
Is that a DVD burner on the top of the panel?
I'm sitting here in my moccasins, mocking a mock-up that'll never see mach speed.
One thing I have to admire in the Iranians, at least their leaders try when they lie.
Is it normal for a fighter pilot to fly with his knees up against his chest? The cockpit looks more cramped than usual for a fighter plane.
