Sen. Mark Kirk announced Friday he will not support the nomination of fellow Republican Chuck Hagel to be secretary of defense, citing instances in which he believes Hagel has not been tough enough on Iran.

I’d figure Kirk wouldn’t vote for Hagel because he wasn’t a full on infanticide fetishest.
My goodness! What HAS gotten into my junior senator Nancyboy Kirk who is said to also be working on a “bi-partisan” gun control proposal with Manchin?
Hagel is also conventionally married to one woman which may explain it.

Evidently your boy thinks Kerry is hard enough on Iran, he voted to confirmthat traitor.
He continues to legislate likewise. If you are NOT a resident of north shore (and the vast majority of Illinois citizens aren't), good luck trying to get Kirk to pay attention to an issue important to your community. He spends all his time talking about Lake Michigan pollution, navy training, and awards for kids from ivy-league WASP prep schools.
Even that goon Dick Durbin goes through the motions of visiting constituents across Illinois and pretends to care about "the entire state" more than Kirk does.
IL-10 has virtually all of the Illinois' Jewish population and they represent a major force in Kirk's old district. Voting to confirm an "anti-semitic" candidate would have grave repercussions in IL-10, though not so much in the rest of Illinois.
In short, Kirk has "concerns" about Hagel because he thinks Jewish voters would retaliate against him.
I suspect things in Chicago are a-changin’ and Kirk has his finger in the wind.
From over here, I find it a little remarkable that even one Illinois Senator is a Republican, regardless of whether he's a RINO...he certainly must vote right on at least one or two issues, to be even a RINO? Or is he gonna "flip"?
He's right on the Hagel nomination, whatever his reasons, which I'm guessing is more than you'd get from some "Durbin II" Democrat...
I think he's up for re-election in 2014 - trying to bolster his conservative creds, knowing Bagel will likely get confirmed anyway.
Just another RINO heading for the tall grass...
After Hagel’s first day of confirmation hearings, he should have withdrawn his name from consideration. I always knew Mr. Diebolt was not too smart. But when he’s not the one asking the questions, and he’s having to explain himself to someone, he sounds like a kid that barely made it out of high school with a D average. In addition he has never sat on the Armed Force Committee and is no more qualified to be Sec of Def than house-face Kerry was qualified to be Sec of State. After the republicans kissed traitor Kerry’s rear and never mentioned him being a traitor to his country, look for them to once again bow down to Obama like a dog in heat and make this airhead the next Sec of Defense. If Mr. Diebolt is made the next Sec of State, you know damn well that he’s not going to be the one in charge. He was mumbling his words so bad yesterday he looked drunk.
“IL-10 has virtually all of the Illinois’ Jewish population....”
“In short, Kirk has “concerns” about Hagel because he thinks Jewish voters would retaliate against him.”
Okay, true (especially Schakowsky's district) but those are safe RAT Chicago based districts. I meant Kirk's had virtually all the Jewish voters in a district where a politician's voting record mattered. And yes, pretty much all the Jewish voters in the collar counties are in IL-10. The biggest point, however, is that the demographics of IL-10 are in no way reflective of Illinois as a whole. Durbin is a reliable partisan Dem hack but even he PRETENDS to care about the whole state with the dog-and-pony shows he does when he visits the rest of Illinois. In effect, Kirk is U.S. Senator from IL-10. The other 17 districts are totally ignored by him and get no representation in the U.S. Senate.
>> Kirks pro-Israel stance is one of the very few conservative positions he has held in his 10+ years in Congress, and maybe its partly because hes scared of losing Jewish votes, but perhaps he actually is pro-Israel. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. <<
True, it's one of the few issues he's good on, but represent this kind of mentality is what causes legions of gullible conservatives to concentrate their time and energy to helping re-elect that socialist Joe LIEberman at the expensive of good conservatives. Sometimes conservatives can be their own worst enemies. Someone who is "with me" 20% of the time is NOT my friend.
Well, Nancyboy Kirk is NOT my boy. I did not vote for him. I live in Illinois now but I spent most of my life in Connecticut in the New Haven area. Amazingly, many New Haveners were aware of Kerry when he was Speaker of the Yale Political Union. He was such an antiwar and anti-American loudmouth that he was despised by the then patriotic Democrats in New Haven. Kerry is certainly a traitor from his days when in Navy uniform he went to the “Paris peace talks” to canoodle with the Viet Cong delegates and when he was helping in Jane Fonda’s cause and when he formed Vietnam Veterans Against the War to lie to Congress while far better men than he were still dying on the field of battle.
In 2000, Lieberman defeated Waterbury Mayor Phil Giordano who may have been conservative in his politics but was not long thereafter convicted of felonies arising from an incident in which he paid a woman to bring her underage daughter to his office for sex. He was sentenced to prison for a substantial term. Giordano was obviously not a "good conservative" assuming he was conservative at all as a big city mayor.
In 1994, a Republican year nationally, Joe Lieberman was re-elected over Dr. Jerry Labriola (a Naugatuck pediatrician) who had been a state senator and who had been a source of considerable hope for conservatives when he served in the state senate. In 1994, Dr. Labriola sold every principle he ever had and particularly sold out the babies to satisfy another apostate from conservatism, future jailbird John Rowland, who was elected governor that year. Dr. Labriola is not to be confused with attorney Jerry Labriola, Jr., his son who is the state chair of the CT GOP and supports every left-wing type who wants to run for office and who is a brainless windtunnel.
Now for the dessert. Joe Lieberman defeated none other than the absolutely execrable Lowell P. Weicker, Jr., in the remarkable election of 1988. After Weicker had spent eight years despising Ronald Reagan's presidency with open contempt, cheerleading abortion, scuba diving with his old pal Fidel Castro and inviting news cameras to record their frivolity, being an out and out social revolutionary and enemy of all things American for three terms of unprecedented arrogance and ignorance, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum ad nauseam, a group of conservatives, fed up with state conventions so rigged for Weicker that he could not be primaried, Joined with New Haven Democrats, Jewish Democrats of the old school, Scoop Jackson type Democrats, formed a coalition and beat Weicker.
The conservatives asked nothing more than that of Lieberman but Lieberman did a TV ad in which he introduced his wife's parents (Auschwitz survivors) as his in-laws, they rolled up their sleeves, showed their death camp tattoos, and then Lieberman showed the footage of Weicker frolicking with Castro and said something to the effect: In our family we understand what totalitarianism is all about. If I am fortunate enough to be elected to the Senate, I guarantee you that you will never see me scuba diving or consorting with dictators of ANY political stripe.
He served four terms and was as good as his word.
Schlesinger was a loser. I wish the GOP had run a real candidate, could have possibly won a 3 way race.
My feeling is, he’s doing the right the thing for a change, I don’t really care why.
Hagel as SecDef= Bill Clinton as Secretary of Moral Values
I welcome the support of pro-Israel libtards in working to defeat this pig.
