WASHINGTON Energy Secretary Steven Chu, who won a Nobel Prize in physics but came under questioning for his handling of a solar energy loan, is stepping down.
Chu offered his resignation to President Barack Obama in a letter Friday. He said he will stay on at least until the end of February and may stay until a successor is confirmed.
Chus departure had been widely expected and follows announcements by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Environmental Protection Agency chief Lisa Jackson and Jane Lubchenco, head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, that they are leaving.

RE: Energy Secretary Steven Chu resigns
When are we going to CLOSE DOWN this useless Carter established department?
Let’s do that and save $31 billion a year.
These guys are nothing but front men. Hagel spilled the beans yesterday when he said as sec of def he was not going to be in a policy making roll. If the cabinet are not policy makes, who is....obviously the Czars and his excellency. When things to bad, as they are designed to do in most cases, the cabinet member is the insulation. Just like in the mob, no one speaks to the capo but the underboss, so too in this moblike administration.
If he needs his roof painted white I know there’s a couple million people who need (and want) work.
Another big government, nanny-state socialist twarted in his desire to show us that he could make collectivism work where Marx, Engles and Stalin failed.
Good riddance!
Ha Chu
The SOB should be in prison.
EFF YU CHU! His replacement will be worse. Al Gore?
Too bad the best white paint ever made contained LEAD...........
This Administration has ABOVE THE LAW down to a science. Just about each person that he named to his first Administration could have been tried in court, but it is tough to have the law work when Holder is at the controls. And then they leave and go back into the private sector.
Hey, when they re-enter the private sector, can civil suits be filed?
Steven Chu:
The poster child for why scientific achievement does not necessarily correlate with common sense.

Good riddance. This guy is an ivory tower academic with no understanding of the real world.
Off to form a PAC or become a lobbyist and make some serious Algore-type mullah.
His goal was $10 per gallon gasoline.
He obviously has to leave because he only destroyed
the American economy “half way”.
His replacement will continue the march of
the Dear Leader to full American poverty.
