RIP, on the whole, not a bad guy. Did a tough job and did it as a realist. A mensch.

...his best line, in my opion, ...he was being hounded by a reporter about the police having dogs in the subway...
Reporter: Mr Mayor what about the dogs in the subway?
Koch: ..your worried about dogs?...we should have wolves

A real New York character! I just heard he's being buried at Trinity Church, lol! According to the news, he felt there wasn't enough through traffic at the city's Jewish cemeteries.

During the Koch years I lived in SW Connecticut and business took me into NYC frequently. Koch, who served 12 years, reflected the spirit of NYC as did Giuliani who came later. Unfortunately Dinkins came in between them as Mayor and was a disaster ... no parallels between Dinkins and our current occupant of the WH of course. In any case Koch and Giuliani were excellent NYC Mayors who were positive influences on their city. Bloomberg I'm not so sure about ...

I know he was a Lib but he seemed to be leaning more to the right as he aged. RIP.

A real shame. Koch was a lib, but had common sense. Rest in peace.

My condolensces to the Koch family.
‘Hizzoner’ shall always be remembered, as a Great American, and a great Mayor of NYC that had a ‘can-do’ attitude.
To: Zakeet
I thought he was honest and decent, for a lib.
Anyone remember his stint on the People’s Court?
RIP, Mr. Mayor.
