(Excerpt) Read more at breakingnews.com ...
Wanted to make sure the story that an armed SRO immediately disarmed the student is reported.
Video Reports about the SRO are on WSBT and MyFoxAtlanta, but haven't seen an article yet.
The SRO was a retired Atlanta Police Officer.
There was a metal detector at the school too, but the shooter got the gun passed it.
A good guy with a gun didn’t kill 27 people at Sandy Hook.
Hell, he wasn’t even there.
APS chief: Shooting victim could be out of hospital on Thursday

“...Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said that the suspect in the shooting was disarmed and apprehended by a school resource officer. That officer was an armed off-duty Atlanta Police officer, Turner said...”
Thank goodness! He probably would not have been able to apprehend the shooter with blunt scissors.
No doubt Price Middle School will be held up in the national media as the counter example to Sandy Hook. The people of Atlanta know how to protect their school children.
“He probably would not have been able to apprehend the shooter with blunt scissors.”
That “public service” clip reminds me of the “duck and cover” era.
“Thank goodness! He probably would not have been able to apprehend the shooter with blunt scissors.”
They have unarmed SRO’s in some schools.

I never saw a "School Resource Officer".
What kind of critter is that, exactly? I am guessing some sort of.......I just don't know.
All over Proggie town there is a sigh of regret of what could have been..
Not true, this happened outside the school.
Not sure what that is but at Frankford High in Philly, we had armed uniformed and plain clothed offices about
It depends on the state. Some are unarmed, some are armed.
Most seemed to be armed.
“President Bill Clinton initiated a program which offered federal funding to offset the costs of hiring school resource officers, but the money was cut over the last five years. Even if the White House does embrace the new plan, it will not be as extensive as the NRA recommendation. Effectively, the administration would be restoring funding to a program that had fallen out of favor.”
If we had had such creatures around our school; he, she, it or they would have been "de-pantsed" several times a day.
I was just going by the article:
APS chief: Shooting victim could be out of hospital on Thursday
http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/story/20922511/aps-chief
“Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis said he is hopeful the victim of Thursday's shooting outside of an Atlanta middle school would be released on Thursday.
A 14-year-old boy was shot in the back of the head on Thursday. He was said to be alert and conscious as he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said that the suspect in the shooting was disarmed and apprehended by a school resource officer. That officer was an armed off-duty Atlanta Police officer, Turner said.
Investigators said that the shooting was not random, and they believe that there had been some sort of altercation between the two students involved, Turner said.
A police spokesperson told FOX 5’s Justin Gray that the incident should be classified as a shooting at a school and not a school shooting.
Davis said that there are metal detectors at the school and that it was not known how the gun got past them...”
-- I didn't follow it on television, but the above article mentions that the Public Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis didn't know how he got the gun past the metal detectors. He may have not known all the details at the time.
