Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) confronted former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel with a clip from his 2009 interview with Al Jazeera during today's Defense Secretary confirmation hearing.
The Secretary of Defense nominee can be heard agreeing with a caller's assertion that the United States is the "world's bully."

Sarah was right! That Dewhurst was nothing like Ted Cruz!
My father lived in San Antonio all his life. I visited and liked the city. NO Spurs fan you! Lakers always!
I’m calling it a night! G-d bless and keep you.
Sorry, but Cruz was born in Canada. If we are going to whine over a Kenyan as POTUS, then we must deny the Canadians also.
Canada, he is not NBC.
Are you familiar with Gateway Church? I'm thinking of driving up to visit on a weekend soon. I want to see for myself. If you've heard anything good or bad, would you reply?
I watch them on the internet and on Daystar and am drawn to that church. I may even move up there for that reason. I'm more used to east Texas and the Gulf Coast, but for a church like that, I may have to move to tornado alley.
Hi chuckles!
I’m sorry, I don’t know about Gateway Church. I’m not all that familiar with Ft. Worth. I just LOVE the town/city. I’ve pinged two best friends who reside in Ft. Worth and I hope one or both can tell you about the Church.
I know you’d fall in love with Ft. Worth upon first sight! It’s beautiful with so many sites to see including wonderful museums and the big city Dallas is close by in case you’re into that.
God bless and keep you.
Glad you’re up and kicking.
Not quite high enough, tho...
The Right to Life was bought out by Romney during the primary. Very, very disappointing.
Then I will frame it and hang it on the wall.
Are you a member of your local or county or state republican committee?
If not, why don't you become one and REALLY help him?
It’s some sort of glitch in FR. Happens to other ping lists too. As nascarnation correctly pointed out, I had a six banger yesterday. Annoying to everyone, especially me since it wreaks havoc with my my comments page.
It was a pleasure to vote for Ted three times:
The primary, the runoff, and the general election.
Me too...viva Cruz!
Well Norm, it is just normal for a temporarily powerless organization to divide up into meaningless factions. Psychologically, we feel rotten, because most of us went out and voted for Romney, The Mormon Milquetoast, even though we couldn't tell if the he was alive or dead, or just strangling in his cult underwear. Leave me alone! I'll get over it.Please.
Perhaps you could join my "segment." (I call it mine even though I am hardly the founder ... just a member coming out of the wilderness) I call our Band of Brothers and Sisters The GOP Death Watch. I and my cohorts seek a dignified and merciful end of the Grand Old Party if it goes away peaceably. The GOP has gone from a vigorous youth, through a prosperous middle age, a ripe maturity, and now is in the ugly throes of a drooling, blithering, incontinent senility.
Think about it. The Republican Party hasn't been around forever, and no one says it has to stay in existence. Of course, there is the small matter of what do we do in the meantime while the new party takes shape. How about we concentrate on local and state government under strong anti-federal governors who will send senators to DC who are elected by their legislatures, as is their right?
Yeah, the future Presidency will be at least a lot of the time in the hands of assklown Democrats. But think of the many cities who subdue assklown mayors with strong city councils. The way our female, latino, Afro-American, queer, and other minority demographics shape up in the big states means that anyone to the right of Barbara Streisand is not going to garner that state's electoral votes ... so ... fuggedabout'em. Keep the purse strings. Starve'em. Let'em riot.
Keep your fine mind off these sectarian issues, Come up with a name for the Republican Replacement Party .
hey ...that's not so bad is it?
While I applaud your efforts and the direction you want to head (and bear in mind I don’t disagree with you), here’s the problem that we have to face before ANY steps can be taken to right the course. And for those who say I’m full of feces, I direct them to the past 4 years of FR postings. (my own post history is a good start for research)
Many, if not most of the people claiming to be conservative and espousing of conservatives are at best, moderates.
We cannot move in a positive direction when one group (of ‘conservatives’) backs politicians like Rubio who want amnesty/DREAM acts, Another is ready to accept a moderate stance on homosexuals (as in allowing their sexual desires to form legislative policy). another group is ready to throw conservative pols with 90%+ records to the dogs over ONE stupid statement, Another group wants concessions to the Abortion lobby in order to secure winning votes for the GOP, ANOTHER group compares Romney to Reagan and condemns any who would put principle over party and yet ANOTHER that thinks economic concerns and ‘feasibility’ trump the need for a border fence rather than a ‘smart fence.
In my post history alone, you will see countless battles fought over the above issues with freepers who swear up and down that they are rock ribbed conservatives and ‘how dare I question their conservatism’ indignation.
How? I think it’s self-evident ‘how’.
Now if these are the abject idiots we have as an army to go to war with, I put to you that we should instead box up the wife and kids and head for the hills to avoid the slaughter.
I spent years fighting the landuse wars against the BLM and Sierra. We lost that war exactly because of the same enemies within. People who wore their politics on their sleeves and rolled them up when it interfered with their personal little problems.
So, In light of the fact that every single point I made above is easily and multiply proven (for none of these things are isolated incidents, rather current standard behavior for ‘conservatives’), we have exactly one logical and rational choice to move ahead in a positive and useful direction.
Purge the ranks, take the hit and stop wasting time, money and resource fighting the fairweather flock.
But a mere handful of us are willing to do it. The moderates run wild, trash actual conservatives (Palin being the most obvious example) and no one with any voice in the movement does s..t to stop it.
We need fewer Coulters/insert moderate freeper or pundit here, and more honest voices. And until the above happens, I honestly think everything else is a waste of my and everyone else’ time.
And again, before the moderates out there return to calling me names and bitching, they need to disprove a single point I made. Which, to date, not one has. Lots of bitching, ducking and ignoring, but no disproving.
Unfortunately, that is today’s reality.
“Republican Replacement Party”
Actually, That’s brilliant. That IMO is exactly what we should call it. Because it sums up the situation perfectly. The GOP needs to be replaced and the principles it once espoused should continue. RRP for short.
And it rubs the noses of the moderates in the crap of WHY the new ‘party’ was created. To REPLACE the failures currently calling themselves ‘Republican”.
Blame it on Reagan. These people are genetically descended from long lines of old-time Democrats ... the more patriotic kind ... not the Leftist kind. THEY are the ones who have created today's free-spending Republicans. These are the folks who wouldn't dream of marching in a Gay Rights Parade, but don't you dare touch MY Medicare. "Hey, as long as you're spending, where's my cut?"
The Country-Club RINO's play'em like a drum. At the same time, they are still susceptible to Democrat agitprop, (after all, Dad was) and since they are not real Republicans, if a "Republican" like Romney makes'em itchy, they have no problem staying home on Election Day, as RINO McLame and The Mormon Milquetoast found to their chagrin.
They do need their ass kicked to the right. OTOH, the Two-Party System being what it is, they are what we have to work with. In the more rational 4 or 5-party systems, they would actually be "Center-Left," "Christian Democrats," or some such foreign folderol.
