I just lost my job last Friday. I have a Petroleum Engineering degree and a Civil Engineering license. I have over 12 years experience in Geotechnical work. I'm proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and several Engineering programs. I also know how to work manual labor for 12 hour shifts or more.
Sounds like you shouldn’t have any problem with most of the big oil co’s. Here in the Housto area, most are hiring. Marathon, Chevron, etc. Victoria TX is definitely booming. I bet once you get your resume out, the offers will start coming in.
Housing is loosening up a little bit in Williston, construction is catching up with demand, but places still are not cheap. While this winter has given a few a taste of what it can be, it is still fairly mild compared to most I have been through here. Sleeping in your vehicle could kill you. Some jobs come with housing, so check on that—any prospective employer might help with that if they are really interested in you.
If you are still looking, check out Williston, Dickinson, Minot, Watford City, Stanley and Tioga, just to name some of the larger towns.
The Shopper in Williston is a good place to start. Beware buying any place which has been listed for very long, many are either overpriced or have problems although there may be some diamonds in the rough out there. caveat emptor.
Good luck, and let me know if I can provide more info.
Thank ALL of you. THIS is what I’m talking about. After choir practice tonight, I think I may be ready for a change.
Good luck to you.
Choir Practice was THAT rough Huh?
Let us know how it goes for you.
My contacts are more in the facility design. That work comes after the drilling is done.
The Houston area is hurting to find enough qualified engineers and designers for the work.
ping for later reference
Update- Got my resume out to many places, and hopefully the HR people like what they see. A few looked really good, especially the ones where I got to play outside all day (and night) 8^D. Now it’s time for me to wait upon the Lord.
I uploaded my resume’, but the weatherford web site is tough to navigate.
Thanks. I applied to Spartan. Put out my resume, and see what comes up.
MutttheHoople job search BTTT.
The Lord knows the heart. You have put Him first and He will put you exactly where He wants you. With no regrets.
Jeremiah 29:11.
God bless.
I already have my Civil Engineering License.
Glad I could help. Don’t hesitate to call Spartan. Personal contact is helpful.
I would ask my son for some advise but he’s on the oil rig right now.
I did find a note by his computer listing companies that were hiring. I don’t know anything about these companies, but I’ll give you the list:
XTO Energy, Superior Energy Services, Swift Oil and Gas, Oil State International, and Panther Drilling.
Hope this helps. I’ll be praying for you.
I like a mix of office/field work. I like the times when I can come in and get my work done behind a desk, but I also enjoy being out in the field solving problems on site.
I understand that there ARE Oil and support companies who need Geotechnical engineers. I definitely have experience in that.
