PRINCETON, N.J., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The number of blue states outnumbered the number of red states in the United States last year, 20 to 12, results of a Gallup poll released Wednesday indicated.
After the District of Columbia, the most Democratic-leaning states in 2012 were Hawaii, Maryland, Rhode Island, New York, and Massachusetts, where Democrats held at least 20-percentage-point advantages in party identification, results indicated.
Republicans held a similarly lopsided advantage in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho, the Princeton, N.J., polling agency said.

BS. If Electoral votes were by Congressional district. Mitt Romney would be President.
Numbers of states are really unimportant.
But absolute control of jumbo Cal, NY, and Ill is a huge start in any electoral contest.
After the amnesty plan flips Texas, most national elections will be between a communist and a socialist.
I call BS as well.
If they were by county, no lib-dem would have been elected in past 30+yrs.
If the presidential election was based on congressional districts instead of the States in the Electoral College Romney would have won.
If ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ were candy and nuts, we’d all have a Merry Christmas.
