Obama spent $186,000 on AF1 flying to campaign today. The U.S. Government probably misspent and wasted close to a billion $$....and "due to the draw down" we can't feed our troops. Remember when Bill Clinton decimated the military rather than try to cut government waste and aid during his second term? Then Iraq happened and Rumsfeld said "You go to war with the army you have"...the press eviscerated both he and President Bush. Obama is doing the same dumb thing when there are many more areas to save money START WITH GOVERNMENT WAST AND GROUND AF1!

I could not agree more. Really stop feeding the troops? Hubby and I spent seven years at overseas bases during his AF career and I saw many many civilian employees who were incompetent and lazy and who took 2 hour lunches and 5 day weekends. Please tell me why we aren’t firing these people so we can feed our deployed troops.

It is not that unusual to be on deployment in an area where the meal plan is 3 class C meals a day. It is the Army. Complaining about such a standard thing is called whining. This author, John Solomon, might not know that.

He should be writing about the ROEs and not the MREs. Now that is criminal.

A-ration: fresh food prepared on-site (or nearby and transported)

B-ration: a unit-sized packaged/preserved ration, most commonly found in tray rations (nicknamed T-rat) heated by immersion.

Meal, Ready-to-Eat: the standard individual field ration

I will probably be banned from FR for stating this, but I’ve had it with this POS and his band of asshats. Bring our troops home and let the ragheads kill each other off; at this point who really cares?

I am amazed that his “laser like focus” is on LGBT issues, destroying our constitution, pumping up eco friendly and mostly useless energy solutions and most recently wanting to get involved in legislating pro football. By the way I must have been asleep when the economy and jobs issues were solved. Damn sure haven’t heard anything about that . . . at least since last Thursday and that was nothing but good news . . . /s.

I hope that everyone of the worthless POS that either voted for this POS or smugly stayed at home on election day to prove a point are able to look at themselves in the mirror. Quite frankly I seriously doubt that they can.

COME ON! A Troop has to have his hot SOS and eggs in the morning! And what Zero spent today was $1.8 to $2 Million just today on his trip to Vegas for a 15 min. speech to get his ego fix from an adoring crowd!

So the management folks cut hot breakfasts for soldiers to keep management incomes high. That trend’s been going on for about three decades, even in civilian circles. Now, there are very few in America who actually produce things that we need.

Of course, cooking emits satanic gases that lead to ‘climate change’. We can’t allow those nasty ‘weather extremes’ to happen in the lovely Hindu Kush Mts.

Ah, just send the grunts over to the AFB.
When they have a cut down it is 2 eggs instead of 3 - fresh, of course.

When they start having ‘powdered eggs to order, powdered milk, powdered bug juice’ etc .

I am definitely being (for the most part) facetious and sarcastic, it really is a sad state of affairs when this asshat in the White Hut is spending OUR money on his own personal life, with the hopping on AF1 like it was a VW bug sitting down at the end of the driveway.

It is time to send him to Camp David and let the ‘First Brood’ live out their dictatorship there.

Telling the troops to rough it,when they have to rough it,is part of any military.Having them rough it,when it is cheaper is stupid. It is acting like amateurs actually,European armies do that when their soldiers don’t have food or ammo.Tell them the Euro equivalent of suck it up and drive on.

It is cheap and it is stupid. If you can have soldiers fight comfortably and well fed, then you owe it to yourselves to do.Having soldiers rough it their entire military careers because “it is good for them”,leads to nowhere except physical problems later on.Physical problems the taxpayer ends up paying for.

Obama spent $186,000

Uh, that's per hour. Bammy was in the air for 9 hours. Mr. calculator says that's 1.674 Million dollars.

“As a part of the responsible draw down of operational forces serving in Afghanistan, my staff examined ways to reduce our footprint and set the conditions for the reduction of forces,” explained Col. Joe Wawro, an infantry commander for the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat team.

Wawro said military and civilian leaders collaborated on ideas and “estimated that by changing the meal cycle, they would reduce their overall operations by 40 percent” if breakfast and midnight snacks were converted from cooked options to MREs.

Yeah, Colonel, starving your troops will certainly reduce operations.

Why anyone would want to join this increasing joke of an organization right now, under such incompetent, careless, and self-serving leadership, is beyond me.

This is a national disgrace! Obama can fly all over continuing his stupid “campaign” and we’re not feeding our troops?!
Where are the Repubs? Why don’t we hear screaming from the rooftops about this?! Call Obama on this!!!!!!! And don’t blame any stupid sequestration or budget cuts.....time to cut the imperial presidency and spend $$ where it needs to go!

cutbacks began Jan. 1, and affect about 2,700 soldiers deployed in forward operating bases in more remote areas of Afghanistan

This is so Chicago. It's below freezing in Kabul and they cut back on hot breakfasts to the frontline troops. These arrogant skunks just don't care.

It's how the politicians act in Chicago - remorseless, pitiless, pukes. They target a vulnerable minority because it's part of their philosophical approach to life.

....a bit off topic... but after reading all the posts by so many of you who have served in the military, I just want to say thanks to each of you for your service. May God bless all of you and your families.

I, too, think we should bring all of our troops home NOW. How many more must die or be maimed for people who don’t want us there or don’t appreciate the sacrifices of our men and women?

re the breakfasts, if Obama can send $155 million to help people of Syria, think our troops in Afghanistan should get the breakfast they want.
