Marco Rubio wins big praise from Rush Limbaugh By: Kevin Cirilli January 29, 2013 01:55 PM EST
Sen. Marco Rubio went into Rush Limbaughs lions den on Tuesday and came out with a rousing praise and support from the conservative radio show host for the Florida Republicans effort to reform the countrys immigration system.
What you are doing is admirable and noteworthy. You are recognizing reality. You are trumpeting it. You are shouting it, Limbaugh said on his radio program during a 15-minute phone interview with Rubio. My concern is the president wants to change the reality.
Limbaugh added: Youre seek compromise, Obama is seeking political victory.
Limbaugh asked Rubio if he thought Obama really wanted an immigration deal or whether he wanted to preserve the status quo so the president could paint Republicans as anti-Hispanic for political gain.
They can try to sell that, but I doubt people are going to buy it. Because the reality of it is we have put something that is very common sense and reasonable, Rubio said.
They cant argue that we havent tried to do our part to come up with something reasonable here, which has always been our point, Rubio added. Our point has always been that we have to fix this problem, but just because were for what youre for doesnt mean that were anti-immigrant and anti-immigration. And I think certainly its hard to make that argument to me I didnt read about this in a book, I live this everyday.
Limbaugh repeatedly commended Rubio, saying that he hopes he succeeds in selling conservative ideals to the public.

I heard differently. His FIRST words after Rubio signed off were essentially “He’s polished, he’s slick, he’s on message.” He even cautioned about “what if you and your gang reach a message and the President doesn’t enforce it?”
Rubio retorted with a big “Trust me.” He likes Rubio because he’s slick and polished and can speak without a teleprompter or notes, a full class above idiot Obama, and reminsicent of Slick Willie’s inate ability to roll with a punch.
Rush is incredulous in my opinion because he doesn’t believe that anything the Democrats will accede to will be enforced. All things being equal and in an ideal compromise, Rush says it could be a good thing - But he does not believe it will happen at all. He’s just trying not to devalue Rubio at this point.
Rubio could be trying to solidify his base before going after a wider audience. Repubs are very fickle people (IMO). It seems that no Repub is pure enough for some conservatives, and not enough people (the electorate) will accept a "pure" Repub to get elected to national office. Those who maintain that Repubs be purer than driven snow condemn the GOP to secondary status. Let's get elected first, and that takes appealing to a wider audience.
We need another Reagan.
Excellent-—Rubio is an enabler. (Rush, too-—in my opinion. Rush goes just so far and, then, no further-—”wouldn’t be prudent”.)
Too late. Those overstays with ability to get status thru family have already been placed in to the citizenship pipeline by Obama.
I know this for a fact because a friend got an UNSOLICITED email from DHS a few weeks offering adjustment of immigration status for his wife.
Rush is praising Rubio’s intent to sell the conservative and traditional immigrant’s view of the US as the land of opportunity (to work) to the newer immigrants. Rubio acts as if he thinks he can turn many new immigrants into conservatives.
I doubt it can happen, but that’s what Rubio is saying and that’s what Rush is praising, though Rush is also skeptical.
See my #3 post....I am NOT for anything Rubio said...I just see Rush as not against Rubio, but not for either. Rush knows what Rubio is trying to do is highly unlikely and dangerous, especially with Obama certainly not likely to enforce anything these 8 Senator appeasers come up with.
I agree. Rush is dubious as we here all are. Democrats f@ck us on every compromise that depends on future action, period. It’s real, it’s history, it’s certain. The only ‘enforcing’ they’ll be doing is taking your gun.
Even if there was enforcement, amnesty would not be a good thing. It would be a disaster fiscally and it will add not only the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens to the voter rolls, but another 66 million legal immigrants who would be sponsored by the illegals who were granted amnesty thru chain migration, i.e., family reunification.
The very fact that Rush can support Rubio on amnesty joined by McCain, Graham, and Schumer is mind-boggling. Hannity and Rush just exposed themselves for the useful idiots they are.
See my #3...I’m just saying Rush is trying not to muddy Rubio’s waters. Personally, I believe the 12 million number is bullsh!t...morelike 50 million. They are our enemies. They pollute our culture, they won’t assimilate; they murder, rape and rob our citizens; they bring extinct diseases; they choke our schools and resources; they steal our public aid; they choke our emergency rooms for GP needs; and they have absolutely no redeeming value to this country we do not already have. They are an invading blight.
As someone who has actually issued visas, I can attest to the corruption within ICE. There is a saying within the DOJ about the prosecution of illegals, "It is not over until the illegal alien wins."
Just as happened in 1986, there will be a flood of illegals entering this country to take advantage of an anticipated amnesty. In 1986 the USG estimated that 1 million illegal aliens would apply for amnesty. The true number turned out to be 2.7 million. Imagine if there are far more than the 11 million illegal aliens estimated by the government? It is insane to promise amnesty without knowing the full extent of its impact.
For low information voters, it will appear that there is a general consensus among politicians and the pundits, left and right, that the 11 million "undocumented immigrants" deserve an "earned path to citizenhship." As for that small group of radical Rep naysayers like Jeff Sessions, Mike Lee, etc., they just don't get it.
I fought this battle in 2006 (Hagel-Martinz) and 2007 (McCain-Kennedy). The same Orwellian use of language is being used and very few are talking about the huge costs involved in such an amnesty. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation estimated in 2003 that entitlement costs alone for those given amnesty (12 million) would be $2.6 trillion. And this was before Obamacare that will add 18 million to the Medicaid rolls. Once these illegal aliens are legalized, they will be covered by Obamacare--and given their generally low wages, they will receive subsidies for medical insurance or be placed on the Medicaid rolls. And they will be joined by their family members--another 66 million of them.
“If Rubio is right on people over-staying their visas because they are not tracked or monitored by the government that issued the visa, it seems a simple policy change to say you track from the moment they land until they go.”
A large percentage of the illegals in this country today didn’t swim the Rio Grande or slog through the Sonoran Desert, they hopped on a plane with a one-way ticket!
Did you listen to Rubio on Rush? I wasn’t able to hear all of it, but in the part I DID hear, Rush was not agreeing with him. He was complimentary of RUbio’s passion vs. being jaded. Rush seemed skeptical that illegals were coming here for the AMerican dream as Rubio claimed.
Rush lost a lot of credibility when he backed down on his “slut” reference to the promiscuous law student who thought we had an obligation to pay for her extracurricular activities. I won’t comment on this particular interview with Rubio until I read the transcript, but if Rush stops being the voice for anti-establishment conservatives his audience will shrink dramatically. We can get the party line from NRO and other such publications. Rush has been able to carve out a loyal following because he’s been willing to poke the Dems and other leftists in the eye with a sharp stick and because he hasn’t been a lapdog for the e-GOP.
Elections have consequences! The ONE won the election and senate is majority democrat. And it takes a simple majority in senate to approve any nominee.
So what exactly is your method of stopping traitor Kerry? Republicans are MINORITY in senate in case you have not heard.
I listened to entire interview of Rubio by Rush. I had to wait 10+ years to get my US citizenship after entering legally. So I am not for any kind of amnesty to illegals.
1 Million+ immigrants are given legal permanent status every year. They have to wait many years to get it. AFter 5 years they all become eligible to receive naturalized US citizenship. If I understand Rubio correctly, under his proposal all illegals go at the BACK of the line formed by waiting immigrants. Therefore there is no special expedient entry granted to gain permanent status aka the Green card.
All the time the illegals are waiting, they receive no benefits at all. Not even Obamacare.
So the only “amnesty” the illegals will get under Rubio proposal is they do not get deported if they have not broken any other laws. They have already broken the illegal entry law. That is the only amnesty.
So I do not see the Rubio proposal as full amnesty, it is a limited amnesty for breaking the illegal entry law.
This farce.... Obama and GW Bush never were serious about enforcing the border with the laws we we have. So why would Obama or any president enforce any new always written into Marco Rubio/Senator’s bill
The border laws are never seriously enforced going all the way back to the Simpson Mazzoli 1986 amnesty. You always get lenience and amnesties but the enforcement never kicks in.
AND WE HAVE 25-30 MILLION ILLEGALS...NOT THE 12 MILLION BEING LIED ABOUT
Karl’s going to save the CA Gop too.. the VunderKind, Jaaa!!
