Hands Off New Mexico’s Abortion Rights Laws

It’s curious how often the people who are against the government laying a hand on their guns are the same people who want the government to put its hands all over our lady parts.

New Mexico appears to have mostly bucked this odd incongruity, maintaining its wild West gun-loving ways while staying relatively relaxed on abortion and birth control issues. Recently, for instance, the national SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective rated New Mexico No. 1 in the nation for providing equal access to sexual and reproductive health services.

But as the Legislature rolls along, two female lawmakers are trying to topple New Mexico from that lofty perch.

No need to excerpt more - more dribble about how nasty Republicans are trying to obstruct the rights of women (and of course, nary a word about how many babies are killed while maintaining those "rights.")

But the reason for posting is the accompanying photograph of a patchwork quilt displayed over the railing at the state capital. One of the patches has the words:

I'm grateful my ABORTION was safe and legal

I'll leave to others to make comments; I'm speechless.

It’s curious that those who want to take away the guns needed to protect the helpless and innocent are the same ones dismembering the helpless and innocent.

We don't give a rat's rear end about your 'lady parts' honey. We care deeply about the baby some women happen to have inside one of those parts, the DNA of whom is totally different from theirs, so it is a separate person entirely.
