My God Fed Ex was said tongue in cheek.

I thought you were channeling Newt who said something similar and it wasn't tongue in cheek.

"You should control the border, which I have pledged to do by January 1, 2014. You should fix legal immigration in terms of visas so people can come and go more easily than doing it illegally. You should have a guest worker program, probably run by American Express, Visa or MasterCard so they minimize fraud, which the federal government won't do. And you should have much stronger employer penalties at that point because you can validate it."

They would probably be miles ahead if they contracted enforcement out to private companies. The profit motive out does bureaucracy every time.

I have no problem with using private companies to perform certain government functions. Visas involve security issues along with other problems. We have plenty of problems with visa fraud in the State Department with a number of US Consular Officers selling visas. The temptations are great.

Consensus became science from evolution. Once they realized they could intimidate and fear people into accepting the theory they simply repeated the process throughout science and society.

If you don’t go along you will be excommunicated from the group or fired so you go along. Now nobody goes against the consensus and the consensus wins. You know what happens if you don’t go along?

Pray for America

Excellent analysis of and proposals for the immigration/amnesty issue, kabar. Have you proposed this to anyone in the Ruling Class?

Civilians are easier to fire and prosecute than civil servants.

I like Ryan, but he needs to wake-up.

Me too, but he seems to have drunk the kool-aid. He was probably told to get back on the GOPe page or lose his chairmanship or some such.

And he's jumped on board the Rubio amnesty plan.

He is another one of those who has been in Washington too long.

Potomac Fever -- it has turned many a good person into a typical politician.

Amnesty will only increase the “takers”, open up a group to legally taking more “goodies”, and do nothing to help reelect Repub’s (unless they promise more goodies).,

Even promising more goodies will not win more votes from minorities and immigrants. It is a delusion. Any amnesty will be credited to Obama and the Dems. And the GOP will be divided as this is just another wedge issue to destroy the party. Personally, I will not vote for any Rep who supports amnesty and I have already stopped giving any money to the RNC. An amnesty will fuel a third party movement.

I already saw that the GOP is greasing the skids for amnesty by not appointing Steve King as chairman of the sub-committee on immigration. The GOP is bent on committing suicide.

I imagine it’s not easy. But, I know most women cannot do it. They just do not have the strength.

This edict, opening up combat positions to women, is SO wrong on SO many levels. This inability to carry wounded is just one of the obvious/practical reasons to not implement it. Martha Radditz’s reply to Will’s comments on this issue was she had seen/heard of women rappelling wounded away to safety. Not sure what she’s talking about, but I didn’t realize most firefights took place near cliffs.

Bad move for the Left (and fortunate for us)...she was a promising GOP contender and could have been one of their more useful RINO tools in Congress.

Unless she goes Dem her political future is finished after today.

Within 6 mos we are going to be hearing from our Repub leaders we need to accept homosexual marriage or the Party will never win. Just watch.

I hope not. Unless Republican politicans wake up and stop acting like the "stupid pary" as Jindal said (but for not the same reasons he meant), we will get there, eventually. This does nothing to improve the future of the US, only degrade it further, whether it's culturally or economically.

I heard her on O’Reilly the other day sputtering something about this being about equal pay in a combat zone.

Which is total BS because whether you’re Infantry or a Loggie...if you’re in a place like Afghanistan you’re getting paid for being in a combat zone.

What was even more disappointing was that Pete Hegseth didn’t refute her on that point.

This has nothing to do with equality...and it has everything to do with putting women into MOS’s where they shouldn’t be...and lowering the standards to make sure they get there.

OH No!!
The entire idea here was once again to score a political victory for the left. to get us denying women “fairness” one more time. They never ever get into the reality/details. If anything they propose only the overt political reality which they cherish.

Yes, I lobby on the Hill and in Richmond on the immigration issue as part of a grassroots organization. I have had one on ones with Congessmen including Cantor for almost 40 minutes. Unfortunately, they don't get it. They think that Hispanics are natural conservatives and it is just a matter of outreach and communicating the message to get them to vote Rep. They fail to understand that immigrants and minorities are natural Dem constitutents.

The 2012 election showed that we have already reached a tipping point electorally. The Reps are panicking. They are being stampeded into an amnesty that will be the final nail in the coffin of the GOP and the country. When the history of this nation is written many years hence and why it faltered and declined, the historians will point to the 1965 Immigration Act as the main reason why. Demography is destiny.

Sorry, we will just agree to disagree. I don’t want the private sector to issue visas and track down and deport visa overstays. Similarly, I don’t want to contract out the military or the police and fire departments.

President Obama is suggesting that House Republicans on the issue of gun control appear neither willing to work with him nor listen to the American public on the issue.

“The House Republican majority is made up mostly of members who are in sharply gerrymandered districts that are very safely Republican and may not feel compelled to pay attention to broad-based public opinion, because what they’re really concerned about is the opinions of their specific Republican constituencies,” the president said in an interview with The New Republic.

Obama also said he can get 50 percent of public support for many of his upcoming initiatives, but “I can’t get enough votes out of the House of Representatives to actually get something passed. … I think there is still shock on the part of some in the party that I won re-election.”

The president said he has a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that date back for generations.

He said that moving forward on the topic means understanding that the realities of guns in urban areas are very different from the realities of guns in rural areas.

He said it’s understandable that people are protective of their family traditions when it comes to hunting so “gun-control advocates also need to do “a little more listening than they do sometimes” in the debate.

The arrogance in those quotes leaves me speechless...

The whole idea that Hispanics are pro illegal immigration is also just plain false.

No, but they vote over 70% for the Dems who favor amnesty. Immigration isn't a major issue for Hispanics, who have 50% out of wedlock birth rates and the highest school drop out rate of any group. They are, as a group, among the strongest Dem constituencies and getting stronger mainly for economic reasons, i.e., the Democrats are the party of free stuff.

The Dems have been very clever in co-opting Hispanics granting them rights such as minority business set asides and affirmative action even though 53% of Hispanics self-describe themselves as white. The Dems are masters of identity politics. We even have the Census Bureau recording such categories as non-Hispanic whites as distinct from Hispanic whites. Even the term Hispanic is phony.

Yes, I lobby on the Hill and in Richmond on the immigration issue as part of a grassroots organization.

I am impressed....and GOOD FOR YOU. We need more like you.

Why are they so deaf, so nieve, about amnesty/immigration reform, etc.? Have they no common sense? Have the pollsters convinced them it will work? (the same pollsters who had the election predictions so wrong?) Why don't they focus on communicating the message/outreach without destroying themselves as a party? When I heard Ryan sign up for this, this am, my heart just hurt for America.

They ARE panicked. They are stupid. I know most will disagree with me here, but Ryan should not be the poster-boy right now. He is brilliant with what he knows, but he is not communicating/connecting with people, only the choir. And now, even the choir has to question his judgement with his position on amnesty.
