WASHINGTON When Mark Takano ran unsuccessfully for Congress twice in the early 1990s, his opponents tried to smear him as a homosexual liberal and a nutzoid. One of them even had pink fliers printed that asked, A Congressman for Riverside ... Or San Francisco?
When he ran again last year, he won by almost 20 points. Flash forward 18 years, Mr. Takano said recently, and the very macho building tradesmen are behind me. Im getting pictures with them in their hard hats.
For decades, the words gay and Congress were usually seen together only in stories of scandal and shame: an arrest after an illicit proposition in an airport bathroom, accusations of trawling for sex on a phone service. When Gerry E. Studds came out 30 years ago, the first congressman to do so, it was only after an affair with a 17-year-old Congressional page was revealed.
But in the 113th Congress there are six openly gay or bisexual members in the House a small but tangible sign that their presence at the highest levels of government is no longer something only whispered about. The Senate has its first lesbian, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin. The lawmakers partners, no longer relegated to the shadows or introduced generically as friends, stood beside them on the House floor when they were sworn in this month. Their adopted children are attending Congressional retreats.

I'd like to know what other Republican speakers dating back to Newt Gingrich did with swearing-in photos of homosexual Congressmen and their "spouses." If Boehner had to do this, fine, rules are rules. If not, let's ask why he did.
God is not pleased. I am not real either. There is no such thing as gay marriage.
ERROR! Not a GOP congressman but a Democrat. Bad typo — admins please fix.
It’s obvious that the GOP is more afraid of left-wing zealots than their own constituents. We need to fix that.
I’m sure he will try to justify this as “I had to”.
But I wonder if he would have “had to” if these were openly admitted KKK members or Nazi party members. I’m would expect him not—since their convictions are solely politically skewed and selective.
These people are frauds.
It looks like Rep. Maloney’s opponent, while described as a “Tea Party” conservative, was not a conservative on social issues including homosexuality. The race between Rep. Maloney and former GOP Rep. Nan Haworth was described as follows in a pro-gay publication:
Where LGBT issues are concerned, Maloney said his goal was full equality under federal law.” He said immediate priorities include repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, achieving marriage equality through the courts or other means, and passage of the Employment Non-discrimination Act.
Maloney received endorsements from the Human Rights Campaign and the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. He also had the backing of President Clinton and Governor Andrew Cuomo, who led the successful push for marriage equality legislation in the state last year.
Hayworth counted endorsements from the Log Cabin Republicans, GOProud, and American Unity PAC, the group founded by billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Singer to support pro-equality Republicans in House contests. She also received the endorsement of New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who vetoed marriage equality legislation this year and supports civil unions.
Thats so gay
Sean Patrick Maloney (right) and his “family”
One of the reasons I think people abort instead of putting children up for adoption is because your child could be adopted by these mental patients. Somewhere out there are two sets of parents who probably have no idea as to what their children are exposed to.
Red China won’t let US homos adopt Chinese kids (they rightly still regard it as a mental illness); Russia’s ban on US adoptions is probably really rooted in the same concern.
I don’t know any “gay couples”, and I never will. My children will never play with “their” children, because I will not plant the seed of anti-Christian liberalism in them. Whereas before people were shunned for unacceptable behavior by the larger society, now it is on us as individuals to do that to protect our loved ones.
How does that Sesame Street song go?
One of these things is not like the others,One of these things does not belong.....
“There is no such thing as gay marriage.”
Damned straight; while I often bemoan the death of marriage itself in the US, this attack on Judeo-Christian values minimizes the sting. Serious Christians (I can’t speak for other denominations) should be married in the manner of William Wallace (”Braveheart”); a private ceremony with no state involvement at all. Then two sodomites can do whatever they please (besides the sick stuff they already do to each other).
Ladies and gentlemen, that is what the ideal progressive family of the future looks like. These people truly are the lowest of the low.
And screw Boehner. He doesn’t have to smile as if he approves. My God, this speaker is a leech. It’s unforgivable his backroom pandering and submission, and that it took him so long to realize Obama’s intentions. The worst representative we could have. He cannot reform and try to be more conservative. He needs to be deposed. 2014 has to be a TOTAL, ORGANIZED, HOSTILE takeover of the party. We have to cut the RINOs at the kneecaps and throw them out. I don’t care what the media, or the so-called Manchurian conservative strategists on Fox say about big tents. Idiots like Boehner have no place in the future conservative movement. I am so sick of hearing about him
Those poor kids. Growing up without what they badly need — a MOTHER.
So he's got the teamster goon vote? No surprise, the mob ran that Stonewall bar as well.
Are open heteros welcomed especially to Congress?
Sounds like a fudgepacker caucus in the making. More special causes to spend your tax dollars on as we nnow will have queer additions to the spending no budget que!

Congress is gay, the military is gay and the MSM press is gay. Our enemies love it that we have no real men running things anymore.
The gayer America gets the more it is held in contempt by its enemies.
There is nothing “gay” about being a self loathing homosexual.
and the very macho building tradesmen are behind me...”
PHRASING!
How can Wisconsin vote for Walker and Baldwin on the same ballot?
