Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Thursday that with women now eligible to fill combat roles in the military, commanders must justify why any woman might be excluded – and, if women can’t meet any unit’s standard, the Pentagon will ask: “Does it really have to be that high?”
Dempsey’s comments came at a Pentagon news conference with Defense Sec. Leon Panetta Thursday, announcing the shift in Defense Department policy opening up all combat positions to women.

“Importantly, though, if we do decide that a particular standard is so high that a woman couldn't make it, the burden is now on the service to come back and explain to the secretary, why is it that high? Does it really have to be that high? With the direct combat exclusion provision in place, we never had to have that conversation.”

Well it’s obvious that no one involved with this is planning to fight in a real war outside of the USA. All these new combat troops must be for some other action.
We’ve seen pictures of the dead being dragged through the streets, hung from bridges, next will be the gang rape of a dead woman soldier. If I remember correctly it is acceptable in some Muslim sects to have sex with their dead wives if done within a certain period of time.
The standards will be lowered-affirmative action.
I expect the ground combat services will see a precipitous dwindling of the ranks of company and field grade officers and staff NCOs.

Come to think of it, maybe our guys will run the other direction too. lol
Actually, what somebody else said seems more likely: the Islamists will capture our women and rape them while our guys can do nothing to help.
Somebody needs to ask these guys if all 18-year-old women will now have to register for the draft as well - in order to be “equal”.
I thought Mullins was bad Dempsey is far worse. These JCS guys seem to have negative value.
The civilian members of the military have a union. Maintenance workers have to be allowed 15 minutes before lunch and going home so they can clean up. I think this appiles to union and non-union workers.
That the feckless General Dempsey is clearly on board with this reminds us of how the Obama administration is systematically eviscerating our proud military in an effort to further weaken America. When they have fully succeeded - which won't be long, now - what then? Who will the world call on when attacked by a larger, stronger nation? Sweden, France? In this downward trajectory, the bad guys win - everything - and God help us all because, in many ways, we've brought it on ourselves.
All I heard yesterday in the media was that standards were not going to be reduced. Today, we hear from General Dempsey declaring that combat Commanders will have to justify if the current standards need to remain in place. Meaning you will lower them!
Once again, we are told lies. The standards are being lowered as to justify the acceptance of women in infantry combat roles. Our military leaders have become yes men. General Dempsey should resign. He and the Defense Secretary will cause the death of both male and female soldiers in the future in order to meet the affirmative action of social justice in the military! God help and protect the US from those who should know better.
The USAF lowered the standards in the early 90s. They lowered the ASVAB scores because they could not get recruits out of the inner cities. Before the change you had to meet the minimum score in the four areas of the test plus the overall score. After they lowered it so that you had to meet only the overall minimum and qualify for at least one (1) job.
They have changed the physical fitness part of it because now the AF runs three times a week and does push ups etc. I don’t thnik it’s working becasue I see a lot of overweight women and a few men running on the fenceline eevery morning.
No problem. General Dempsey is also responsible for eliminating several other laws of physics. Next week, all military vehicles will be able to run without fuel, all military personnel will be able to operate for months without food, the SEALS’ equipment budget will be reduced because they will no longer need scuba gear, being able to breath underwater, and the Air Force will no longer need aircraft to fully complete their missions since they will only need to extend their arms out to their sides and make “zoomie” noises with their mouths like when we were kids.

When I was in the USAF (1972-79) the limit for women was 40 pounds...

yeah. at about a ratio of 1:500. make it 1:3 and then you’ll have the all-important “fairness” and “equality” they seek,right ? since they’ll never get the volunteers needed, that means a draft, right?
I was thinking sarcastically about the union rules applied on the battlefield.
A draft including women will be next and of course the MSM will welcome the opportunity for pictures and stories of infants and children who have lost their mother on the frontline along with the wives and daughters fighting with them.

Didn’t take long for Obama’s Generals to lower standards. Question is when will Dempsey inform Americas mothers and fathers that their daughters have to register for a potential draft.
