Legislation aimed at requiring criminal-record checks for all firearm transactions at gun shows, including those by private sellers, won't advance this year, but members of a state Senate committee pledged Wednesday to work toward a compromise that could expand background checks on firearm purchases.

How many criminals would this prevent from buying a firearm?
It won’t and that isn’t the point. The point is to make US the criminals.
I consider background checks and infringement on the second amendment
Every federal and state law that infringes upon the 2nd amendment is unconstitutional.
infringe break, violate, contravene, disobey, transgress infringe on or upon something intrude on, compromise, undermine, limit, weaken, diminish, disrupt, curb, encroach on, trespass on.
A republican should put forth legislation that repeals all gun laws and removes funding from the previously named ATF.
“It wont and that isnt the point. The point is to make US the criminals.”
Agree, but would only add that this is also about national gun registration. If passed, all private gun sales and transfers will have to be processed through a FFL holder at perhaps (likely) considerable cost. Currently, millions of guns are in private possession and are not on file as they were purchased before one had to fill out those ATF forms. Guns last a long time, generations and thus are passed on to one’s heirs. When these guns are bequeathed, they will have to be processed through, as mentioned above, an ATF holder such as a dun dealer or pawn shop. Also, the same if one sells a gun to a neighbor or friend. I don’t think this has sunk in with very many folks, don’t know. But, I consider this to be an infringement on my rights and privacy, not to mention the inconvenience and cost which could be considerable for those who possess several guns.
The vote was too close for comfort...
We VA voters need more pro-rights, Constitutionalist legislators...
Got to get rid of the No VA libs....
Well it is a power grab, to put us in a weakened state, so they can feed their lust for ultimate power- so that means they are going to try to take our money, our personal power, and our rights. They are going to do whatever they have to do to assert authority over us and leave us defenseless in all ways that they can.
That is pretty clear.
That is a spot-on assessment. Couldn't agree with you more. Just look at all of the proposals by the leftists to force gun owners to pay additional taxes on firearms and ammo, to force them to buy liability insurance for their guns, to make ammo prohibitively expensive. All of it is intended to leave you with less money (freedom), and make it more and more difficult for you to exercise your RIGHT to keep and bear arms.
The left are a truly despicable, insidious, odious bunch.
That was my point.
I’m a gun owner and support the 2nd Amendment. However, ordinary people shouldn’t be allowed to own assault weapons with heavy caliber clips. These military-grade weapons are only designed to kill as many people as possible in a short amount of time. If only one child’s life is saved by banning these weapons of war, it would be worth it.
...sorry, a tornado ripped up my farmhouse. I had many adventures in a land called DU. The land was populated by people seeking a brain and chickenshit lions. When I woke up, I had written the above drivel. Man, no more late-night Ripple for me.
