Time Is Ripe To Consider Liability Insurance For Gun Owners
Hart\ford Courant ^ | January 22, 2013 | Rick Green

As the gun debate heats up, one idea seems particularly suited for Connecticut to consider: liability insurance for gun owners.

This is the kind of mandatory insurance you have to get to drive a car — and the kind of protection that costs more if you want to take what the industry knows is a calculated risk. Letting your teenager get behind the wheel is a good example.

I REALLY hate to make snap judgments based on someone’s appearance, but his guy looks like your typical East Coast leftard elitist.

In short, he looks like a doooosh.

Anyway, back to my cave.

How about requiring insurance that pays on slander lawsuits before a person can exercise their freedom of speech?

What’s amazing is that the $2 million umbrella policy only costs about $50 a year more than the $15K policy I have on a collector bass guitar I own.

Then when some liberal lefty wants a list of gun owners, all he has to do is demand that the insurance companies, or the state insurance commission, provide it.

This could backfire (no pun intended)... once you give the data to actuaries, I expect that they will show that “shooting insurance” risks less money per insured than does car. But this is of course registration via a private back door.

Let’s tax homosexuals. Their behavior is far more risky than owning a gun.

I think a more appropriate venue for insurance companies to investigate is insurance for people who abuse the 1st Amendment, as this @sshole and the MSM do on an hourly basis.

PETA will hire the ACLU to sue hunters on behalf of Bambi.

I can't even tell if I'm being sarcastic anymore.

Under no circumstances will any government agency know what guns may or may not be in my house. Drop dead you JBTs.

Until the 2nd Amendment is completely repealed, any law by Federal, state or local government is illegal because they are violating “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”.

No insurance will write insurance for gun owners. None. Requiring insurance will be like confiscating guns.

And that is their intention.

When anyone who opens their mouth has to have liability insurance, then I’ll consider whether guns also need it.

I am at a loss as to how one would create actuarial tables on which one would base a premiums.

Already been discussed by MA Libs.

Have you read that piece of shiite?

I fear it will pass through the Dem controlled legislature like crap through a goose. I have sent off a couple of steamy letters to my Rep and Senator. I will not comply. This is ridiculous.

Either that, or I will transfer all but one pistol from my collection to a friend who lives in RI until I can move out of this shiite hole state. I am beyond p!$$ed off.

Gov. Patrick is pushing it in MA.

If you can be forced to purchase health insurance, then....

This is a very bad development. I give it a 100% chance of passage.

Does the city of Hartford carry liability insurance for attacks on people within the city limits?

The left loves “compromise.”

Here’s mine:

I’ll get gun liability insurance like for my car if they make guns more like cars in other respects:

1. The public funds ranges and widespread other facilities for me to operate my guns. My insurance (at free-marker rates) is needed only for use at those locations, and not for when I’m merely transporting a gun, or storing it at home, or having it with me without operating its mechanisms.

2. I can buy and sell guns to or from anyone with no government involvement or record keeping, except for those guns I will operate on publicly-funded ranges.

3. My right to operate my guns at publicly-funded ranges is the same in all states as in my own, and I can own, possess, hold, transport, and operate on private property any gun of any type in any state.
