White House adviser David Plouffe said Sunday that he believes President Barack Obama has sufficient votes in Congress to pass gun-control legislation.
Appearing on CNNs State of the Union, which was televised from the National Mall in Washington D.C., Plouffe said he believes the White House has 60 votes in the Senate and 218 in the House from Democrats and Republicans.
He also predicted that immigration reform will make it through Congress.

How many votes does he have to come and take my guns one bullet at a time?
Gee I thought there would be more of a fight when the tyrants showed up.
Imagine my disappointment....
The GOPe will probably cave on every major issue this session
Pass this crap and things are gonna heat up quickly.
That is the fear ... them folks know that each Magazine can Vote 10... 20... 30,,, 50? times
But they look on the bright side, More Dead Voters,
TT
Yep. We're in a time of great choosing. Do we choose the Constitution, or do we choose Communism?
We'll see which politician chooses Communism and which politician chooses the Constitution. It's going to be all out in the open from now on.
If the GOP caves it will be third party time.
I figure he’s Pluffing, but if not, this is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY for us.
The IDIOT Republicans that fall for this will be hanging shingles in the spring of 2015, after having lost their Primaries to Tea Party people that are not all that enthralled with sucking up to the President.
There are lots of us...probably every single one of us...on this site that would JUST LOVE to see them dispatched.
Pigs can fly too!
freedom dies with resounding applause
An honest, law abiding citizen gets to keep 7 bullets. The criminal has 30-50 rounds.
Who's side are the politicians on? The citizens, or the criminals?
It's time for them to let us know who they're REALLY trying to protect.
This “evil gun” push is coming hard and from all sides.
Today at church one of of our prayers of the faithful was “that all people pray for our legislatures to pass more laws controlling the distribution of guns.
Then I got home and read out Catholic newspaper, The Compass, which contained two anti-gun, pro-editorials.
It seems that many church officials have not learned from history.
There isn’t going to be a law make it through the Senate before the midterms.
Way too many rats from pro gun states up for reelection.
Plus Harry owes the NRA and has recently expressed doubt about an AWB.
Not that I trust that little pissant, but I think the WH will make a play at gun control just to force the GOP to oppose it.
I’m reminded of the Swiss aphorism “shoot twice and go home”. Look it up.
I hate to tell ya, from several people I have spoke to, who are apolitical in every sense, are so pissed right now, they want to get this fight on and over with as soon as possible. I am not talking about a verbal fight either!
I have never seen or heard Americans this pissed off in my young life!
No sir, this is exactly what this administration wants, is a fight with the American people over their right to guns. Careful what they wish for . . .
That is very simple to answer since the vast majority of politicians are criminals.
we said that with obamacare.
we had enough purists who gave us obama two.
they have total, including fnc, control of the msm.
they have absolute control of ballot box fraud.
we push came to shove, conservatives hid in the bunker hold and did no substative fighting.
I am highly skeptical of this assertion. If that were so, the bill would already be in front of the Senate and would get slammed through right after the Inaugration.
How would Plouffe know they have enough republican votes?
He is just setting up the template for the MSM talking points
He is blowing smoke among other things...
