A New York suburban newspaper that came under criticism for publishing the names and addresses of pistol-permit holders has decided to remove the map from its web site, according to a spokesman for the publication.
Just before Christmas, in the wake of the Newtown school massacre, the Journal News published a map of the names and addresses of tens of thousands of pistol-permit holders in Rockland and Westchester counties outside of New York City.
The newspaper immediately faced a barrage of criticism from gun-owner advocates and some local public-safety officials. Conservative bloggers retaliated against the paper, posting the names and home addresses of Journal News editors and executives.

Thanks MinorityRepublican, and g’night all!
I know a sheet load of people that canceled their subscriptions. Both print and electronic.
It’s too damned late. The damage has already been done. But they may have done us a favor, in an ‘unintended consequences’ way. Now we all know what the results can and probably will be if we allow these leftists to force us to register our weapons and get on a similar list. It’s an almost certainty that some leftist, some where, some time, will release that list to the public/criminals again. Only way to keep that from happening is to refuse to get on the damned list.
Chicken Shits! They can’t stand their own heat.
Hope all the lawsuits create a Hellfire for them and the Journal paper, its owners, key leaders and relevant staff members.
Oh heck. Make it a living hell for all of these liberal bastards. They acquiested in what their paper published without concern for the safety of those the map/article was aimed at (i.e. their neighbors and friends).
I don’t remember any staff protests, do you?
The worm has turned and it has, like the Sand Worms of “Dune”, some big, nasty and sharp teeth. Time for revenge and payback, not a slap on the wrist. More like a baseball bat to the head.
If the Left wants to play hardball, they had better wear a helmet, a metal cup and body padding because we, the potential victims of their perfidity and malice, swing a big Louisville slugger, hit the ball very hard, and slide into home-plate with our spiked shoes aimed up.
(Gee I love baseball analogies).
We have finally taken the gloves off and put on medieval-style metal gauntlets. If the Left hits us in the face, we won’t turn the other cheek. We’ll slap their’s off with lawsuits and truthful information.

I guess I’m just pissed at the liberals who show absolutely no regards for others outside of their mentally ill groupings.
Now is the time to strike back. My daughter helps guard our local elementary. My son is a police officer. I’m a little too old to do much guard duty (but will if needed), but I can write about these issues as I have done for the past 40+ years, and make suggestions on how to defeat the Left (which I have been fighting since 1965 in college).
It is time that all conservatives and sane moderates unite to destroy (not just defeat), the Left/Liberals who are destroying our government, society, culture and schools, as well as endangering decent people along the way.

Madmax, the Grinning Reaper, who is really pissed and in a “ranting” mood
what a bunch of maroons!
I think it might have something to do with the lawsuits that have fallen on them. I hope they are hounded out of business and every evil soul that works for this rag is bankrupted.
You said it ALL....BTTT!!!
Oh come on now.
That’s a single action and should be in condition one. Cock and lock it and get your wife to pose again.
Sheesh!
“One of our core missions as a newspaper is to empower our readers with as much information as possible on the critical issues they face, and guns have certainly become a top issue since the massacre in nearby Newtown, Conn.
One of our core missions as a newspaper is to empower our readers with as much information as possible on the critical issues they face, such as knowing whether the President is a white hating marxist who is not an American citizen nor will present any documentation of his life, despite every one of his biographers stating that he was born in Kenya.”
Sorry, had to do that.
Too late dumbasses.
It’s a Gannett rag, so that explains it even though the publisher publishes this non-apology:
Make no mistake, The Journal News will continue to report aggressively on gun ownership. We will continue to pursue our request for data from Putnam County and will closely analyze the data for Westchester and Rockland counties when it once again becomes publicly available. And we will keep a snapshot of our map with all its red dots on our website to remind the community that guns are a fact of life we should never forget.
Sincerely,

“The Journal News took down the data just three days after the state enacted a gun control law that included privacy provisions for permit holders.”

They were forced to take it down, otherwise it would still be up.
And these lists provide thieves with targetting info both ways:
They break into your home because you are defenseless OR break into your home when you are gone to steal your guns.
Wonder whether the paper will issue an apology and concede its irresponsibility . . . of course not, being a liberal means they never apologize for their own mistakes.
What if they had printed the names and info of those who had gotten abortions? How would the MSM react to that?
BS. Your core mission is to advance a political agenda. As a reader, I'm still waiting to be empowered with as much information as possible in regards to the imposter called 'Baraq Obama'.
Or how about all their advertisers pull out, and they have to shut down their business, and THEN they get sued.
