Orders from General Thomas Gage to Lieut. Colonel Smith, 10th Regiment Foot
General Thomas Gage April 18, 1775 Boston, Massachusetts
Lieut. Colonel Smith, 10th Regiment Foot,
Sir,
Having received intelligence, that a quantity of Ammunition, Provisions, Artillery, Tents and small Arms, have been collected at Concord, for the Avowed Purpose of raising and supporting a Rebellion against His Majesty, you will March with a Corps of Grenadiers and Light Infantry, put under your Command, with the utmost expedition and Secrecy to Concord, where you will seize and distroy all Artillery, Ammunition, Provisions, Tents, Small Arms, and all Military Stores whatever. But you will take care that the Soldiers do not plunder the Inhabitants, or hurt private property.
You have a Draught of Concord, on which is marked the Houses, Barns, &c, which contain the above military Stores. You will order a Trunion to be knocked off each Gun, but if its found impracticable on any, they must be spiked, and the Carriages destroyed. The Powder and flower must be shook out of the Barrels into the River, the Tents burnt, Pork or Beef destroyed in the best way you can devise. And the Men may put Balls of lead in their pockets, throwing them by degrees into Ponds, Ditches &c., but no Quantity together, so that they may be recovered afterwards. If you meet any Brass Artillery, you will order their muzzles to be beat in so as to render them useless.
You will observe by the Draught that it will be necessary to secure the two Bridges as soon as possible, you will therefore Order a party of the best Marchers, to go on with expedition for the purpose.
A small party of Horseback is ordered out to stop all advice of your March getting to Concord before you, and a small number of Artillery go out in Chaises to wait for you on the road, with Sledge Hammers, Spikes, &c.
You will open your business and return with the Troops, as soon as possible, with I must leave to your own Judgment and Discretion.
I am, Sir, Your most obedient humble servant Thos. Gage.
This time, it could plant seeds for an angry blowback which will explode in a second civil war or revolt.
How’d that work out for him?
“No knock,warrant-less swat raid goes bad. Film at eleven.”
Welll ... he DID have help to begin this march from John Boener ... I mean, John Adams
One April morning...
Distinction noted. But our forefathers did see themselves as citizens, rather than subjects, I suggest. If they had believed they were subjects, and behaved accordingly, they never would have summoned up the courage to do what they did.
The worshipful adoration that so many on the far left show toward Obama suggests to me that they no longer see any value in the title “citizens” and are ready to become subjects again, so long as those they envy are reduced to the same level.
Modern-day Loyalists, perhaps?

Why is it that dictators always impose healthcare reform, gun control and then citizen roundups?
Doesn’t take much to have an identical situation right now, such as the FBI getting a tip from internet forums that a gathering of 2A supporters will be at various storage facilities near Washington DC.
And we know just how much drooling occurs from the Homeland security and FBI techies whenever they chance upon internet chatter that by “their” definition is acts of sedition.
Give them nothing or give them a nationwide snipe hunt, they made their wrong choice to obey illegal orders from a Presidency that is destroying our country.
It would have been so much better if they just realize who the real enemy is and took corrective actions, but no they must continue to be Americas modern day version of the Redcoat Army.
You got that right. And there is no shortage of modern day redcoats (wearing black or blue uniforms saying "FBI", "ATF," "POLICE," "SHERIFF'S DEPT" etc.) on them to enforce the tyrant's whims.
This is how freedom is lost not all at once, but incrementally. A magazine limit here a gun ban there, a tax increase elsewhere, and before you know it you're a slave of the government.
Don't count on it. History shows otherwise.
To Mr. Morgan, Panetta, McCrystal etal:
Why do I need an AR-15?
As citizens of the United States of America we pledge are lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to secure the unalienable rights of our fellow citizens. We can delegate the authority to carry out those tasks to both the police forces and the military, but we cannot delegate the responsibility.
The same mistake that millions, now dead, made thinking "It can't happen here, we're different."
This isn't based on culture, but on basic human nature. Human nature is the same here as it was in Soviet Russia, China, Cambodia, Nazi Germany, Turkey, etc. And if you think that the populations of NY, NJ, MA, CT, MD, IL, etc. don't have the vast majority who will support the tyrant, you're making another mistake. I reiterate history does not agree with you.
I know that when I was in uniform, either as a E1 or E8 I would not fire on American citizens.
