Two handguns and two pistol permits were stolen from the New City home of a man whose name and address are listed on the website of a local newspaper as possessing gun permits, police said.

The thieves ransacked the house Wednesday night, breaking into two safes on the home's third floor and stealing a third safe. The guns were in the stolen safe, police said.

Clarkstown police said they had no evidence the burglary was connected to the controversial map.

Thieves could go after the guns based on the list, but more likely, they’ll go after homes that don’t have gun permits to help minimize their risk.

Publishing the list could backfire, if people realize they need to be on the permit list as a deterrent to thieves.

But Cumo said his new gun control law would solve all these problems.

And over in the press room each of these incidents is being celebrated as a little victory.

Considering the new law, I think houses with guns will be hit first.

It will, if criminals would just do what the politicians tell them to do. Pot calling the kettle black?

Plaintiff's attorney doesn't need evidence. That's the fun part. The Journal stuck their [redacted] in a litigation wringer when they published that info.

“Clarkstown police said they had no evidence the burglary was connected to the controversial map.”

Seriously? In this day and age those sort of claims are easy to confirm or refute. It's a matter of simple research on crime stats around town, particularly in that area/neighborhood. If there is a lot of such criminal activity going on in that particular area, they could probably skate on such a claim however if that is the only such burglary in the area and the only one in like 5 years or so, then we have the answer. Going by the photo at the story link, it doesn't look like a slummed out area used to high-crime.

Let me guess, these low IQ donuts munchers were never good at the Sunday Comic section which had a connect the dots game.

More mouth breathers who are quite happy to exercise their domination over us.

Trust me...they’ll go after the houses with the guns. I have an aquaintance who spent 7 years in prison for trafficking guns.

How did he get the guns?

He paid teenagers to break into houses....when nobody was home.

And in my personal life, I know at least a dozen people who have had guns stolen from their home.

Its the mechanism by which legal guns become ‘street’ guns.

Sooner or later, one of these guns stolen due to the article will be used in a crime. The media will have been complicit in the transition of the gun from lawful ownership to being used in a violent crime....and the media will authoritatively blame the Gun.

Soon Mr. Criminal will have a national database to download of all gun owners and details about their inventories. Plus the black market will flourish making it really easy to obtain guns.

Is this the revenge you sought, Obama voters?

When the (then)Liberal government of Canada brought in the “Long Gun Registry”, the registry was not accessible to the public (at least not legally). Law enforcement agencies had access — but not the public. The reason — fear that guns would be stolen, if their locations were known. Even Canadian Liberals got that — why can’t American liberals get it?

BTW, our Conservative government recently did even better — they abolished the registry, and destroyed the database (except in Quebec, where the socialist/separatist government insisted the database be kept).

As much as I agree with ya there has to be a proven nexus. Too early yet. Need more data.

Of course, there are some ‘disreputable’ people that may say their home was broken into and ALL the weapons stolen - AND they took my inventory list so I can’t tell you what exactly was taken.

You know, like the ‘ever lovin’ canoe accident.
