Talk about your strained analogies . . . Tom Brokaw has analogized people unwilling support measures aimed at limiting gun violence to those during the 1960s who were unwilling to speak out againt the likes of Bull Connor.
Brokaw made his remarks on today's Morning Joe. While asserting that he favored a "holistic" approach to gun violence, including addressing video games and the coarsening of the culture, Brokaw did remark that "guns are the endgame."

Liberals really are nuts. Is Brokaw worried about guns, or the people who own guns? I believe he sees gun owners as his political foes.
Hey! Gangs need their obaamaa phones, food stamps, ss disability for being shot, gov-sub housing, welfare, and lotsa guns and ammo... that’s a why they voted for 0... oh yeh... then take their combat to the refuge of the Windy City-to rob each other and fill each other with bullet holes... gsheees!| this whole gun talk is nuts... Wyoming has this gun thing right... All politicians stay away from the law abiding folks with guns..
Play that funky race card, white boy.
I didn’t know he was still above ground.
I thought he died.
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. — Benjamin Franklin, 1759
Every good communist should know that political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. - Mao Tse Tung
“The measures adopted to restore public order are: First of all, the elimination of the so-called subversive elements... They were elements of disorder and subversion. On the morrow of each conflict I gave the categorical order to confiscate the largest possible number of weapons of every sort and kind. This confiscation, which continues with the utmost energy, has given satisfactory results.” - Benito Mussolini
“All we ask for is registration, just like we do for cars.”
- Senator Charles Schumer
“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty.” - Adolf Hitler
“If I could have banned them all - ‘Mr. and Mrs. America turn in your guns’ - I would have!” - Senator Dianne Feinstein
“I don’t care if you want to hunt, I don’t care if you think it’s your right. I say ‘Sorry.’ it’s 1999. We have had enough as a nation. You are not allowed to own a gun, and if you do own a gun I think you should go to prison.”
- Rosie O’Donnell (At about the time she said this, Rosie engaged the services of a bodyguard who applied for a gun permit.)
Does Brokaw still claim to speak for the people of SD?
It can't be done.
You will never convince an irrational person with rational thought.
It's easier to send the irrational person into complete meltdown by agreeing with their position but doing it in what they perceive is an “irrational” manner.
When someone starts with the gun control simply agree with their position and tell them democrats have been trying to tell people since the end of the Civil War freed slaves shouldn't be allowed to own guns.
As they are then busy trying to defend themselves against being a racist they will then claim no one should own a gun.
Again agree with their position and tell them how great it worked in Nazi Germany.
Considering the left responds better to short sound bites and visual than long winded mental, it's time to put out posters with visual of gun control at work.
Pictures of lynched blacks with GUN CONTRO WORKS.
Pictures of concentration camp Jews with GUN CONTROL WORKS.
It's time for the left to go on the defense.
"We, gun owners, have no problem with good laws, but how do you stop criminals or the person with emotional problems? Gun owners need protection from them too." Looking over the landscape of TV and MSM news the same thype of message is needed for debt, healthcare, size of government, and certainly right to life. Better messages make for better and smaller government.
Tea Party people would win many elections by messaging about poor laws and even worse results from too much government.
not a bad post, if I may say so myself...
Brokaw has finally become left-wing stupid enough to run as a democrat senator. I don’t recall them suggesting that because segregation was bad, we should outlaw restaurants (or other establishments that segregated) because some of them practiced segregation. What’s going on today is like saying people can steal other people’s property, so let’s solve the problem by outlawing private property - if it ain’t yours, nobody can steal it from you...
They are throwing everything they can against to wall to see what sticks.
Equating gun violence with segregation? Brokaw is going for the ole white guilt.
Hey, Brokaw, what’s going on in Chicago with all the gun violence — some 500 murders last year. Most of that certainly isn’t out of white guilt.
It really doesn't need anything else on it.
The picture and GUN CONTROL WORKS makes the point. The 2nd isn't about hunting.
Make the left defend their position.
F*** Tom Blowchow ! He can go back to being retired and STFU.....
Bwokaw is proof you can make your living with a speech impediment as long as you say the right things.
If a country such as France or England or Spain had smuggled weapons in to the slaves, slavery would have ended a lot sooner.
Easy there Tom Blowchow—
your MSM is doing all it can to help the left’s little tin god Barry:
“NRA head: Controversial ad ‘wasn’t about the president’s daughters’”.
So the real issue, the lousy economy and out-of-control spending is being ignored, which is the whole point, isn’t it?
These guys were morons when they were on-air on a regular basis.
Now they’re washed-up, has-been morons.
The problem isn’t too many guns. The problem is too few fathers.
Brokaw is an idiotic teleprompter reader, who hasn’t the vaguest clue what is actually going on in the country or the world.
