Gun control advocates, in their infinite wisdom, seem to think they have the definitive answer to this question. The answer is "less than ten."
Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York is seeking extensive gun control legislation to "tighten the assault weapons ban" and "ban all large-capacity gun clips." To these ends, he addressed the gun "extremists" by quipping, "It's simple -- no one hunts with an assault rifle. No one needs ten bullets to kill a deer."
The first time I remember being introduced to this feeble (yet somehow, incredibly persistent) argument for gun control was while watching an Eddie Murphy movie called The Distinguished Gentleman as a kid. In the film, Eddie Murphy's character is a con artist who scams his way into a vacant seat in Congress. He initially chums up to the House chairman of the energy committee, who is your stereotypical greedy, right-wing, oil-sucking politician that Hollywood loves to portray. He's anti-gay, anti-environment, anti-cancer prevention, and he also happens to be in bed with (you guessed it!) the pro-gun lobby. So he and Eddie Murphy go duck hunting with military-grade rifles to promote such weapons' recreational use.
The whole thing is purposefully absurd, with Eddie Murphy puzzling over these gun nuts firing hundreds of rounds in the air only to have one duck fall from the sky, which Eddie Murphy suggests "must've had a heart attack."
The implication is simple. Like Cuomo, the filmmakers expect the people watching to assume that the gun control debate centers on whether or not weapons capable of delivering large numbers of rounds have a legitimate recreational use. And if they do not have such utility, there is simply no need for Americans to have access to them.

I never liked the carbine.
It always lifted too much after firing and had to be brought back on targhet/
That’s what I find comical/nonsensical. The next big posturing by some public servant will be, “...I propose tough, and I mean tough new gun control, magazines will be limited to 6, no.. uh.. 5, yes FIVE shots.”
IMO, someone looking to kill will do it with a 10 round mag, a 7 round mag, a single shot bolt action, a rock, a set of Ginsu knives complete with lifetime warranty and a decorative vegetable peeler, etc.
I just want my 2A rights fully preserved, not limited by arbitrary controls meant to make some leftard feel good about himself.
They are on a retreat, at tax payer expense, trying to figure out how to roll over with style.
Royalty has its perks.
How much ammunition does the government need to provide sufficiently for all soldiers who carry weapons? That is no less the amount that citizens need in order to protect our liberties and freedoms from being usurped by a tyrannical government. THIS TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT!!!
HR Sportsman, was out shooting mine a few days ago. Fun firearm to plink with.
“Go ahead and laugh at it, and well get back to you in a couple of years to see...”
You don’t need to wait years to get back to me. I’ve met and worked with fascist federal bureaucrats. They’re fat, stupid and grossly overpaid.
I don't.
But let me put it this way:
I have a friend who makes a living from manufacturing custom-made ammo. He has been doing crazy amounts of business lately, but suddenly there's no more bullets(4 week back-order), next to no brass and primers, and powder is getting scarce. These are common calibers.
SOMEBODY, or I should say many somebodies, are buying up all this ammo and ammunition components. The same goes for semi-automatic rifles. And they're not burning this ammo up at the shooting range.
I may not have enough bullets, but there's lots of people just like me and there's enough between us all.
Most people are unaware of what's transpiring. There's pressure building and it will not be pretty when it explodes.
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 51%? I’m in a target rich zone.
You left out the media but I’m OK with just cutting out their tongues instead.
Well, let’s just focus on the ones that take formal oaths to the Constitution and betray them. The neighbor down the street who votes for traitors isn’t going to be much of a threat, I think.
How many is enough? One more than my “enemy”.
“What if you hunt Redcoats?
What if you hunt turncoats?
When you run out, you’d better not need more.
If you have 7, 4, 2, or 1 (proposals and limits of late), you’re gonna run out quick.
