WASHINGTON (AP) - Declaring "we are not a deadbeat nation," President Obama warned on Monday that Social Security checks and veterans' benefits will be delayed if congressional Republicans fail to increase the government's borrowing authority in a looming showdown over the nation's debt and spending.

Here we go again. Scare the wits out of the elderly. DUers saying they would love to see grandmas kicked out into the streets as long as they could blame the GOP for it.

Of course he is. The only way these payments can stop is if he says they must. Social security is a pass through agency: the revenue taken in from payroll taxes are supposed to go straight to SS recepients.

BullS*#t. That’s what it is. Social Security checks are by law to be paid from current payroll receipts, and the special treasuries purchased with the excess for the last 30 years.
Use of these receipts and treasuries for any other purpose is illegal, and totally irrelevant to the decision to raise the debt ceiling. I really hate the crappy lies that politicians get by with these days.

That is inexcusable to lie- to frighten grandmothers and grandfathers who will be receiving their social security checks. When you think you could not dislike him much further, he plays the political deceit; only for his agenda (which is not one of a pro traditional platform and country unity). I pray the republicans push him back so hard; that he does not know what happened because he does not want any spending cuts. Take that to him because the base will defend them; GOP must stop worrying about his corrupt media (who never will respect them for their ideas nor endorse them).

Require a budget before any debt ceiling discussion.
Senate must pass a budget, it must be reconciled with the House, and signed into law.
After that, then permit a debt discussion.

Obama: Debt limit fight imperils elderly’s checks
In a pigs eye!
I’m calling a spade a spade!
No pun intended.
The President is a lying deceiving SOB!
I’m wondering at just what age I get to be considered elderly while collecting checks from the government, that in reality should be cutting the take, of everyone getting a check, by about forty percent for starters.
