Brewster, N.Y. 1/13/2013 Today Senator Greg Ball (Patterson R, C, I) announced that a burglary has been reported on Davis Ave. in White Plains, New York that evidently ties into The Journal News gun maps. It is reported that the burglar used The Journal News interactive gun map to target a home included on the map. Luckily the gun was locked up and no one was hurt.

The map isn’t necessarily responsive to which houses don’t have a gun; only which houses don’t have a REGISTERED gun.
It is however, almost certainly responsive to which residences do in fact have a gun.
That being the case, the chances of it being used for nefarious purposes would almost singularly be to acquire a stolen gun. The method would be to case the place to find out when the owners aren’t home, and try to rob the house/steal the firearm while they are away.
The criminals who would use this map would be looking for guns to steal but not looking to run into their owners holding them.
Just have folks around the building taking pictures. It will drive these moonbats over the edge.
In other words, it was a responsible gun owner who was minding his own business, until "outed" by the Journal News as if they were a criminal.

One sheriff is poised to sue for socks. Read that prison guards and officers are in line for threats, now that prisoners and their pals on the outside know exactly where to locate the throats of their wives and kids, die to the map. Witness protection is at risk as well as battered wives hiding, and also many people on the map have since moved making the map inaccurate, with the address occupying completely different people from the map, so this is very serious.
Unless, of course, you wanted to steal a gun!
What do you want to bet that the attempted gun theft was a gun-grabber trying to implicate other gun owners?
That is typically the scenario that we have seen of late.
Like Fast and Furious?
I would include in the class action any website that linked to the map.
Sue the pants off of GANNET. This is bullcrap.
I hate auto spell.
die to the map - due to the map
Sue them into oblivion.
GOA & NRA should drop some money on this.
Absolutely! And they should. Did you see any of those folks on Hannity? He had a segment of ‘outed’ permit holders..many police and retirees in those ranks. I can’t believe this is still going on..1st amendment my foot. This was a targeted attack and there are and should be severe consequences.
There was a post from a woman who wrote that with the publication of her name and address, her stalker was able to track her down after so many years of her being untraceable and had started calling her.
These media Libtards who run this paper must be some of the dumbest asshats to roam free....
Nobody thought this little politically correct exercise in free speech would not have some potential serious fallout...
I hope it cost them dearly in money and careers....
I just hope nobody dies from their stupidity...
Outing Pirro was a big mistake. She is pissed and well connected.
Twisted liberal pretzel logic will now tell us that gun owners need to reduce the risk of having their homes robbed by turning them in to authorities.
