An Ohio high school teacher who claims to have a phobia of young children is suing a school district for discrimination.
Maria C. Waltherr-Willard, 61, of Greenhills, is suing the Mariemont school district, where she worked for 35 years, saying it discriminated against her when it reassigned her in 2010 from its high school to its junior high and then pressured her to resign, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
According to the paper, the suit is a discrimination claim based on her age and disability -- a rare phobia called pedophobia, an extreme fear or anxiety around young children. Waltherr-Willards suit claims she has suffered from the condition since the 1990s.

I can understand this lady’s claim since I also suffer from a rare phobia....MLphobia. It’s a fear of a bar that only has Miller Lite.
Duct tape her to a chair at chuckee cheese for three hours on a Saturday .
Now I know why I break out in hives around assorted crumb crunchers and other forms of rug rat.
Women I used to work with thought it was funny to bring in their bambinos just to watch my face go white while I ran and hid.
I might just use this at the next, “Bring your brat to work day.” ;)
I have sympathy for this teacher because now parents will “sue’ a teacher if they dare try to discipline their undisciplined children. The children in ghetto schools are like feral cats. I’m glad she told the school that this isn’t ‘teaching” ..its being thrown into a snake pit.
I got over my fear of teachers. Woman up!
“I got over my fear of teachers. Woman up!”
OK, a little insensitive. Sorry
Against the Geneva Convention.

I call them leg monkeys. My kids always wrapped their arms around my leg and sat on my foot when I came home so they could get a ride.
Let’s see how many descriptive terms we can come up with here.
Is she one of the Monsters from Monsters, Inc?
Sounds to me like she has found a new twist and is bucking for Disability Retirement.
when it reassigned her in 2010 from its high school to its junior high
She gets a little sympathy from me. Jr High aged kids are alright if you’re dealing with one or two. Any more than that, it starts to get ugly.
Yard apes
Curtain climbers
Crumb snatchers
My cats have this disorder. An adult walks in, no problem. A child comes in, looks of absolute horror & then a hasty retreat to the basement.
She probably has a decent case under the law.
Employers are required to make reasonable accomodation for such conditions, and assigning her to high school rather than junior high would seem to be something they could implement quite easily.
Bill Clinton was afraid of children, too. That’s why he had Monica, well, never mind.
