Blaine Gabbert will be part of the Jaguars’ quarterback competition next summer. Tim Tebow will not.
That was the word from the Jaguars new general manager Dave Caldwell, who has been given by a free hand by owner Shad Khan to make all football decisions. Caldwell was introduced to the media on Thursday and when asked about Tebow, closed the door on bringing in the Jacksonville native.
“As far as Tim goes, he is a member of the New York Jets. I can’t imagine a scenario where he would be a Jacksonville Jaguar,’’ he said. When asked to repeat that statement, he did.
Caldwell was then asked if that meant even if Tebow is released by the Jets. “Even if he is released,’’ Caldwell replied. “I have others in mind and I’m comfortable with what’s here.’’
That should end the seemingly endless speculation that Tebow was going to wind up playing for his hometown team. ESPN even reported recently that it was a “virtual certainty’’ that Tebow would be playing for the Jaguars next season.I

There’s no problem with me. I’m fact based. Your problem is you think just because he’s an awesome guy he should be an NFL QB. Meanwhile his stats and tape say no. Just like this GM said. GMs don’t care who has what religious belief, his job is to put a winning team on the field that draws butts to the seats and corporate sponsorship to the luxury boxes. He’s look at the tape and doesn’t see that in Tebow. He’s by no means the first, and probably won’t be the last.
The animosity toward Tebow comes straight from the satanic media. The MSM are now running the NFL in all respects. ESPN agitators (announcers) even direct the activities of the coaches and game officials during the games from their microphones.
A lot of the anti-Tebow people are also anti-Palin, just coincidence I suppose.
Tebow thread, Palin thread, there are some similarities.
Being successful in college doesn’t mean much once you start getting paid. Your employer wants you to be successful for them.
A lot played into an 8-8 Broncos getting to the playoffs last year. Not the least of which being the defense shaving 15 points off their average allowed, and playing in a division that could be won at 8-8.
He’s gotten chances. He’ll probably get one more. But apparently not in Jax. There’s still a few teams out there desperate enough for any hint of success they might give him a shot. KC, Miami, Buffalo, Cleveland. And maybe he’ll improve.
Moreover, he is totally unique in my memory in this regard:He led what was a losing team to the playoffs, won his first playoff game, and then spent the following year totally unused.
In my mind, it’s impossible to say that Tebow is not an NFL caliber quarterback because the one time he had a chance to play, he succeeded all the way to the 2nd round of the post-season.
That is not true of Andy Dalton, RGBIII, and Andy Luck. It’s not true of Tony Romo.

Another good question is why they feel the need to chime in with their own criticism (in their professional opinion) every time his name comes up.
He won one playoff game, and it was his second season.

Never heard the word before Tebow, now I hear it all the time.
Nope, the field is WIDER and longer. It is perfect for Tebow. If he can’t pass, he can run. That tightens the secondary.

The person who must resort to personal attacks knows he has no facts.
The facts are still there. He’s a bad QB. Which is too bad, he’s a nice guy, I’d LIKE to see him succeed in the league. But as is he won’t. He either needs to learn the fundamental NFL QB skills or change his job title. No sour anything, just dispassionate facts.
And teams talk. Word would by now have gotten around the league that Tebow's throwing motion can't be corrected by coaching. So that's it for him.
Many fans have a mindset that - based on one good run of games at Denver against teams who hadn't properly prepared for his unorthodox approach - Tebow is a magic fix to any QB problem. His arrival as a backup would create immediate controversies that would disrupt any team's chemistry. He would have to come in as the unquestioned starter...and no team wants to risk that.
Instead, I expect Tebow will be out of football in 2013, unless it's the Arena League. He's proven he can make plays at the NFL level, but so can a lot of other guys who don't bring as much baggage with them.
And yet Denver didn't want him. Even on a winning streak the Bronco's organization was plainly lukewarm about him.
Are you trying to tell me you are smarter than all the NFL franchise's scouts, coaches, GM's, etc? For the most part, they DO NOT want Tim Tebow. He will very likely be OUT of the NFL next season. It is NOT because all of these teams are anti-Christian. There are LOTS of Christians in the league doing exceptionally well.
Sometimes circumstances line up where mediocre players have a successful winning streak, that does not make them anything beyond the mediocre player that they are.
Maybe Tebow will finally accept that he isn't a starting caliber QB in the NFL. If that happens he could pursue a 3rd string/TE/multi-role type position. He could potentially be valuable in such a role. But that would be more of a backup position and as such he'd have to stay out of the spotlight and avoid doing things that attract media attention.
They HAVE. You probably just didn’t pay attention when they were pointing out Leinart’s problems, or Vince Young’s, Cam Newton generated a lot of bad press this year (second season), Jay Cutler generates so much bad press you’d think he owns stock in an ink company.
Bad press is everywhere in the NFL. Most of the time a player is discussed by name it’s pointing out his faults. There’s a handful of media darlings like Peyton and Brady, but everybody else gets criticized. And even the darlings get hammered sometimes, Peyton got a lot of bad press during 2011 for negotiating a big contract extension BEFORE getting his neck surgery.
I rarely saw Tebow play and I can't comment on the oft-heard cliche "Mechanics" that everyone throws around now.
All I know is that most QB's in the league haven't even achieved what Tebow has achieved. The Bills, for example, have been through a string of dull, mediocre QB's over the last 10 years, who were all given 2-3 years to succeed or fail. Same for many other mediocre teams such as Cleveland, KC, Oakland, etc...
As such, without a doubt Tebow is being held to a much higher standard, I suspect because of the PR risk any GM has by giving Tebow a shot.
Then you weren’t paying attention. Look up any of the old press coverage on Byron Leftwich, his bad mechanics got discussed a lot (he’s got a bigger wind up than half the starting pitchers in MLB). There’s lots of discussion on Peyton and Brady’s good mechanics. QBs only have a handful of things that get discussed, their ability to read defenses and their mechanics are the big 2. Been that way as long as I’ve been watching football.
3 downs means there’s almost no running in the game. That was the big discussion when Ricky William jumped to the CFL, what would they actually do with him. The answer was, not much. It’s a passing game.
I must be pretty smart because these same people went to TEBOW when they needed a quarterback, and he took them to the playoffs by turning around a losing team.
Now, is Payton Manning the reason they dumped Tebow? Well....yeah.
But, there are very few teams who’d be sane if they didn’t start Manning....Patriots, Packers...it’s not a long list.
But, being replaced by Manning is not a sign there’s anything wrong with Tebow.
So, back to your question about me versus their coaches/scouts/etc.
They’re the ones who scouted, drafted, and played Tebow.
I’d say that they’re the ones supporting MY position.
