Newtown, Conn.s schools superintendent is urging an indefinite police presence at the districts schools to allay fears among parents and children about gun violence.
The News Times reports that Superintendent Janet Robinson says children have not ventured outside school for recess because of anxiety.

I understand that they have concerns but now it seems that there is an irrational fear based strictly on emotions. Which means the bad guys have achieved what they wanted. The odds would seem to be on their side that this is not likely to happen again in Newtown. Do they have any memorial/commemorative wrist bands made up yet? For morale reasons, maybe hussein (NO morals) should have the girls attend classes in Newtown for a while to show that there is nothing to fear.
Stop radical left wing extremists. i.e. Liberals
I was in Korea at the time of the Khobar Towers bombing. My brigade commander, in discussing proactive vs. reactive activities, observed that we were great at gaurding smoking craters...
The mass media are in the business of creating and amplifying anxiety. They have done what they set out to do. Now there is mass hysteria based on emotion, not reason.
The media will continue until “Newtown” is part of the American vocabulary, just like “Colombine” and “Katrina.”
I think it is cruel to have the kids continue school at that location, it should be razed and a memorial made to the victims on the site and a new school built.
Those guards better not have guns . . . Obozo will take them away . . .
I'm not sure the media sees it, but it's right there in black and white: the head of the schools wants guns to be in the school.
It may be a valid concern.
The concern is for mentally unstable people who crave attention. The Newtown kids are probably the most susceptible kids to copycat murders.
There are good guys, there are bad guys and there are nutcases. This is all about the nutcases.
Secondly, this is an admission that gun-free zones are not safe.
While Newtown itself is moderate, the towns east of Newtown are the most conservative towns in Connecticut. The neighboring town of Oxford has a more conservative voting record than Texas. Monroe (the town that gave Newtown a replacement school to use for the surviving Newtown kids) is solidly conservative.
The kids are going to school in a new building one town over.
Anxiety?? No, there's still snow on the wet ground, and it's cold outside.
Janet is also being very vague and in her e-mail updates to Newtown parents and not responding to requests for more information on future security procedures.
It's also still very easy to enter/access certain Newtown schools right in front of parked police, and no one stops you once inside - going to the front office is requested but voluntary. FAIL
“...allay fears among parents and children about gun violence.”
Maybe they ought to start rounding up all those free-range psychopaths they’ve been playing catch-medicate-release with all these years.
“The media will continue until Newtown is part of the American vocabulary, just like Colombine and Katrina.
Its total coordination now between media and the political/industrial complex.
Goebbels had nothing on the current pimps in the mainstream media.
Another meme to add to your list, “Gun Violence”. We are not regulating guns, it’s “gun violence”.
The brainwashing continues......
Thank God.
It is because ole Janet has had to look directly into the face of the evil she denied existed and she is terrified.
this is connecticut! Does this Police Chief not understand they don’t want gunmen around their school?
Good time to close the gate...
...after the horses are out.
Aren’t the police carrying.......guns?
More guns, more guns, more guns. More guns in school to allay parent’s fears about gun violence.
It is not irrationale to have the police guarding schools for a bit while the community of families recovers from such a traumatic event and to give the townspeople time to figure out what to do about the failure of the “gun free zone” strategy.
If they still have teachers and staff disarmed and police in schools a couple years from now, they are dealing with mental illness issues (liberalism).
One thing that is true about school policing is that it always “progresses” into institutional guards controlling and abusing the inmates. So police guards can not be a permanent fix to the ignorance of creating schools as a “gun free zone.” Gun free zones are self defense free zones.
I thought of an interesting twist on the “gun-free zones” argument.
What is the one place where you can never, EVER carry a weapon of any kind, from a handgun to knitting needles?
On board a commercial aircraft.
But if aircraft are so very safe and weapon-free, why do we have air marshals on just about every flight? Shouldn’t that argument apply to schools, too?
Ha Ha Ha Ha What a fool! Everyone KNOWS armed guards don't prevent shootings. You hear it every night on the network news. The commentators even laugh at the fools who believe otherwise. We need to make schools GUN FREE!
..........Oh, wait...........
