On Tuesday morning, commentary on the broadcast of the Bowl Championship Series national title game between Alabama and Notre Dame included words like creepy, awkward, uncomfortable and heteronormative.
The subject was not Alabamas 42-14 victory, but comments made during the game by the ESPN play-by-play announcer Brent Musburger regarding the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback A J McCarron. In the first quarter, ESPN showed McCarrons girlfriend, Katherine Webb, who was sitting near his parents. Musburger called the 23-year-old Webb, a former Miss Alabama, a lovely lady and beautiful, and said to his broadcast partner, Kirk Herbstreit, a former quarterback at Ohio State, You quarterbacks get all the good-looking women.

I believe you hit the nail on the head. The first thought that came to my mind when she appeared on screen was, 'wow, is she ever an attractive young lady'. I didn't see her chest either.
Well Sue Carter, that's cause you're butt ass ugly and look like a bull dyke to boot. You're jealous cause all the guys barf when they look at you! Get over it. Musberger complimented a beautiful young lady, or is that now considered to be a liberal hate crime?
I clicked the link and this turned out NOT to be a satire piece.
Beam me up.
Just freaking
beam
me
up.
Wow! Katherine Webb IS beautiful! Way to go AJ McCarren!
>> She is beautiful, but Id be surprised if beauty is her only redeeming quality.
I would too.
On the other hand, the teevee camera doesn’t image intelligence waves, or character waves, or personality waves, or any other kind of waves besides light waves.
So Musberger was kind of limited to commenting on what he actually *saw*.
Please tell me: is it permissible to comment on one value without also mentioning all other possible values? Or no?
All she has ever known is men averting their eyes from her, so what she said makes a lot of sense. A tad myopic, but certainly understandable.
Thanks. Musberger sounded a bit over the top, but I guarantee she is the only beauty queen who is getting calls for interviews. She didn’t mind one bit. $$$$$$$$
You won't be seeing many women's faces on Current TV anymore.
>> In the eyes of some, this will be worse than when Dana Jacobson cursed Jesus.
heh...
On a lighter note, while we’re on the subject of chic... er, sorry, *ladies* and the championship game: here’s an amusing piece regarding the allegience of nuns — ALABAMA nuns, that is...
Now, celebrities and such can look and comment on women in the most knowing way because they are also young or famous. For instance Hugh Hefner at eighty some is fine with marrying a girl young enough to be his great granddaughter.
At one time it was taboo for children to be aware of the opposite sex. Now it is reversed and only certain people are allowed to notice a pretty girl otherwise everybody gets "uncomfortable".
I heard that comment in full. He may have been bit effusive, but who cares. All that time when there is no action on the field has to be filled somehow.
The game was over at half time. To keep the audience, maybe they should have continued scanning the stands for other good looking women.
Let's face it, the majority of college football fans are normal men who enjoy looking at beautiful women.
This word sounds shockingly intolerant for the champions of tolerance. This guy had the audacity to assume heterosexuality was a normal option? How dare he! If the rump-wranglers demand we view their preference as normal, why doesn't the, uh, fabulous pump, fit the other foot as well? [facepalm]
Had to look up this “big” word from the article:
“Heteronormativity is the body of lifestyle norms that hold that people fall into distinct and complementary genders (man and woman) with natural roles in life.”
Wow I guess the broadcast WAS really offensive!
(In all fairness it was a bit creepy coming from Musberger. The gal could have been his granddaughter)
Do a Google search for an image of McCarron’s mom. She’s hot; too.
Mzzz Carter just put you on double secret probation. :-)
